How long does the pace setter tip stay yellow?
I am looking into buying a pacesetter cat back but I dont really want a yellow tip. First off it wouldn't go good with a white and blue probe, and I kinda think it looks ricey anyways.
I am guessing it will get covered in carbon sooner or later. Anyone with experience?
Also does anyone know how long the muffler is?
I was thinking about ordering the PS just for the piping and tehn cutting off the muffler and re-attaching a muffler of my choice.

The tips turn black in about 2 or 3 days. It's VERY quick. You won't notice it really.
And why would you ditch a perfectly good muffler? It's your decision, but to me, the PS muffler looks and sounds good. At least give it a try. If you don't like it, then buy a different one. You've got nothing to lose.

it does turn black very quickly, and you dont really notice the yellow anywho.
Im gonna disagree with Mr. Martin here, a PS/TP combo sounds really ricey in my opinion.

Oops. Didn't see that he has a test pipe. Icky. PS exhaust sounds HORRIBLE with a testpipe. Maybe better with a different muffler.

I can vouch for the tp/ps combo sounding ricey. That's my setup :)
It's not like, "OMG, that's SOO ricey!' but it kind of does get high-pitched and um, i don't know..but it doesn't sound that good from the outside, or with your window(s) down. Makes me wish I'd have bought a Borla.

well I do have an ATX so it is not like I will get my RPM's up to high in my daily driving. But I was searching around last night and everyone seemed to say it sounded great right around 2-3 rpm's, which is basically where my transmission stays anyways.
The only reason I wanted to change the muffler would be to put a tunable muffler on in place of it, so that I could tone down the exhaust if it was too loud, or I could take the silencer out, and run a straight pipe, when I went to the track.
The reason I would do this is because I dont live in an area where mandrel bent pipes are found easily. So I thought i could buy this system for about 200 and then no matter what I did from there it would perform better than my stock piping.
I knida want a loud exhaust too, Just to prove to all the rice burners in my town that an automatic can be loud.

Does borla still make 2.5 piping?
I thought i read somewhere that they used to and then they switched to 2 ID:???:
I dont really wana spend 400 on piping that is only goign to improve over the bends in my current piping and not the size.

I love my PS. I have the PS/TP combo, and I LOVE the sound. I don't think it's that ricey, but I've never heard another probe with a different setup, except my own before I had it.
I love my Pacesetter, it was cheap, it sounds great, and I LOVE the twin polished tips.
The yellow gets covered with crap in about 5 days, so if you want it to go, it won't take long.

What would cause the PS to sound bad? the muffler? because it is not stainless?
I do like the sounds of borla's lifetime warrenty, but I get the impression that it is not very loud.
opinions?

It does sound ricey but only when u start to get up on high rpms.Around town if u shift right u wont even notice it really. But it does give the wxhaust a little deper tone a noticeable deeper tone and i like that.Plus it helps with performance also.

Well I have an automatic transmission, so unfortunitly I cant really shift when I want.
About what rpms do u shift at? just curious. I wana see if it is any where near the shift points for the automatic.

If your worried about the yellow tip, just sand off the paint down to the metal....polish it up and viola!

The sweetest sound it makes is at idle, when it's in gear, and your foot is on the brake. It rumbles like none other. I get looks and thumbs ups () all the time at stoplights, and my friends love the sound too.
I usually let my ATX shift around 3500 or so depending on the geography of the land, but when you hit it, and you get above 45oo rpm's it sound SOOO SWEET!

SOunds kinda RASPY not ricey IMO. Idle sounds SWEET i think.... but for 220 shipped, 150 for a hiflow cat, and 100 for a new muffler let's say... 470 total you have a better set up than a Greddy AND your only 10 over a Borla...

Yeah, you won't regret it. Exhaust is one of those "bang for the buck" mods. It sounds better, looks cooler, and adds a few horsepower. You can't go wrong with that.

Do they even make it any more?
I have been lookin around for places to buy one and I am coming up a little shy.
It seems as though everyone sells it for all other probe models execpt the 93-97 2.5L
this sucks:x
