Hopefully Ill be getting a Borla exhaust, but just the piping, for x-mas. and so Ill need a muffler, Im thinking of going with a CherryBomb Glasspack? Its nice and cheap (great for a 16 year old...) and Im kinda trying to go for super loud (but I dont want it to sound ricy, or just just no muffler loud like it does now)

Anyone have any experiance with Glasspacks?

Oh, its stock headers into a testpipe.

Glass packs sound pretty cool , but they blow out sooner then others . You want loud ? Get a testpipe too and a Muffler off ebay like a dragger muffler or a magnaflow

Im not to woried about blowing out, hell, their only 20 bucks.

What exactly do they sound like? I mean, I know they make it deeper, but how much deeper?

Oh, and I already have a testpipe :D

And what about these dragger mufflers or magnaflow? What are they like/how much?

Hrm, could I put it on the end of the Borla, then just put one of those cheap-ass ghetto looking tips from Autozone on it? lol, the life of a 16 year old...

I had a glass pack on my first gen GL and it deepend the sound to a nice deep rumble. Not real loud, it was just tastefull to me. Sounded nice, I liked it.

I'm running a dual tip glasspack right now on stock pipe, resonator and stock cat.
It doesn't have the rice sound but it drones real bad inside the car at about 2500 to 3000 rpm.
It sounds more like a street bike which is what I wanted.

Also lets the car rev up faster. Must be the free flow exhaust.

Now, when I put on a test pipe, un-resonated, it is louder than hell and rasps horribly. I am embarrased to drive down my street it's so loud.
A kid of 16 might like it until johnny law pulls them over for excessive noise.

I am going with new Magnaflow muffler and getting a resonated test pipe.

Just my experience.

Well, Im not worried about drone, right now it drones so bad all the change and stuff rattles... :wtf:

rasps horribly? Hrm... stock pipes? Hopefully the Borla wont be as bad, as Im going to keep the Borla Resonator, so we'll see. The glasspack is only $20 so if its that bad it wont be that big of a deal to get something else or soemthing.

Thanks tho.

Here's an update to my exhaust setup.

Yeah, I am using stock piping for now, expenses ya know.

Well, running stock headers - test pipe - stock resonator and piping - glasspack with dual tips = loud, rasp, inside drone.

Changed to stock headers - drilled through CAT (not gutted) - stock resonator and piping - glasspack with dual tips = less loud, no rasp, minimum inside drone.

There is a little drone, but not enough to rattle change. And my sound is back to deep street bike. I like it!

I am looking at getting a Magnaflow muffler to run with a resonated test pipe for a deeper freeflow sound, but for the time being, I drilled a 2.5 diameter hole straight through my CAT to act as a resonated test pipe and it worked.
The CAT is bad anyway and I will have to get another one for emissions testing, but for now, my glasspack does not sound so bad.

I would suggest that you keep your setup along with the Borla piping and get a Magnaflow muffler. They give you that deep rich sound with a test pipe and that is all you should have to get.

Just my $.02,

Greg
