I thought the Level 10 Torqe Converters were like $200!

I looked on their site and it says $498

Is there any where that I can get one cheaper?

A place near my house that builds custom torque converters quoted me $250 to raise the stall as much as possible. i forget the exact numbers but the stall they could do was alot lower than the stall claimed by level 10. i think it was something along the lines of 600 rpms higher than stock. you might save some money going somewhere else, there definately are other options (check the yellowpages thats how i found mine) but level 10 seems to be able to achieve a higher stall than everyone else. btw i never got the job done because my transmission is toast, didnt find that out til they already had it apart to remove the torque converter though. The company i almost went with is called Emerald Torque converters, there are also a few other places that deal online besides level 10 who could quote you a price, try a websearch.

they just dropped the price by $100, plus you dont have to send them a stock converter first either, so it's a much better deal now. IMO $498 isnt too bad at all for the quality of work they do.

Ok, so Im gonna have new water pump, new fuel filter, new out cv joints, newly rebuilt trannsmission, hayes 404, iat.....

I know all that will make the faster out of those is the hayden and the iat....
Will just the hayden and the iat bring me up to MTX speeds?
How will all that AND a L10 or equal TC compare to MTX speeds?

Thanks

Uhhhh, I don't think a Hayden makes you go faster. I just got the 403 put in and it I don't feel a difference. It's not a go fast mod.

out of all that...the only thing that will make you faster is the iat, and stock for stock, you will still get wasted by a mtx, with good driving skills...get a tc, and valve body recal and you will be up to a mtx most likely. And if you know how to pull the tranny out, take the tc off, and put it back on and put everything back together, then you can do it...but it would probably a couple 100 bucks for some one to do it.

Most tranny shops charge $200-$300 to drop the tranny. Plus another $200-$300 to reinstall it.
Your best bet would be to do it yourself:smile::tup:

People shouldn't complain aboot the $500 price tag... Some of us paid $600 for our L10 tc

Very True Jimmy.....

It was the best mod I ever installed on my car! Made the most noticeable improvement(even more than my swap).

Level Ten makes quality parts! The drivabilty is fantastic. If I buy another ATX PGT(or MX6 V6), IT WILL HAVE AN L10 T/C as it's first Modification!

I am contemplating doing an L10 TC install myself, but how much do the auto trannys weigh? The auto in my 'stang was easily 50lbs heavier than the stick that replaced it. I am new to this fwd stuff, with the exception of helping a friend do a clutch on his Dodge Shadow...any tips?

ATX is about 70-80lbs heavier than an MTX....so around 200lbs for an ATX I think

How much is a valve body recall and what does it do?

well, i know its 500 i think, and...i believe it makes for harder shifts, kinda like the iat, although even harder, call level 10, or wait for pgtfreak or someone come along....

Heh the L10 recal is kinda a rip off in my book. It's closer to $600 now, and will only show HUGE gains if you're current vb is kinda in bad shape. When a recal is performed they install new solenoids and stiffer springs to raise line pressure, thus giving you faster firmer shifts. My advice would be to look around tranny shops that do some type of upgrade/high performance work. I would say $400 would be a fair price.
Make sure they know what they're doing too. My upgraded VB, will not allow me to go into O/D, when going WOT at 110mph, and I believe it is hampering my 3rd gear performance. It was free so I can't really complain. Though I'm not really looking forward to the 3 hour reinstallation of my stock VB.

OH it is also good for your trans. With the higher line pressure comes the faster shifts. That means the tranny slips less and creates less heat. Heat is
