Hi! I am new here and the reason im here is because i need some help. I am lookin at buying a 1993 Ford Probe. However, I have heard that they do not perform well and have engine problems. I have also heard they are rated very bad in Consumer's Digest. I would like to know if this is true? Do Probes not perform well? Thank you!

 You said what about the Probes?? They perform bad? Ask :darin: that little guy right there will tell you if they perfrom well or not. I happen to drive a 1993 Motor Trend Car of the Year and it's a great car. If you wanna know what problems they have look in our tech section.
All in all, the Probes rule and are much better than many other cars you could buy for the same price/performance range.

If you only want a car that will run forever, buy an old Civic or a Volvo.
If, however, you want to drive a car that is sexy as hell, performs very respectably, will make you feel good when you stare at it as you walk away each evening and has no more technical issues than most other cars on the road these days... do yourself a favor and get a Probe.

I have had my '94 PGT for over 6 years and I haven't had any problems. I have done the water pump and timing belt just as preventive maintenance.
And as far as not performing well, that's what all the honda's and ricers seem to think around my neighborhood, but they change their mind every time they stare at the a** end of my car when we race.
