I'm new to this forum, but I see a lot of knowledgable info. Is there any way to tune the PGT VRIS system, or is tieing it open the only option. And if so, exactly how do you do it?

Some dude from Hawaii was working on a tuning device that allows you to control when the butterflies open and close and at what RPM. I followed the post for a while, but hadn't check in on it for some time now. Do a search...."VRIS controler" I think you'll find much on this.

bah....dont mess with it, you end up loosing midrange torque and hp....

that dude is me :D yes there is a way to change the vris settings to whatever you want, i have the circuit to prove it, but unless you have serious induction mods (ie. jspec or ported manifold, ported heads, etc.) it will do nothing for you.

I have a ZE...does that count?

yes it does...you have a jspec manifold and bigger head ports...vris switch points for a ze are shifted up by a few hundred rpm

You can change the VRIS points by reprogramming the ECU, but to make sure that you are making an improvement you would need to spend time on the dyno experimenting.
The ZE ECU is interesting in that it change the VRIS settings at all throttle settings, rather than just the large throttle settings like the 03 does. The points are in different places too (due to the different manifold).

How did you find this out? I have the EL prototypes reprogramming and wondered what you know about that? Anyhow. The VRIS operation is seemless, there are no apparent dips or jolts of power. It just pulls strong up to about 7,000, especially past 5,000
