  • Compressed Air Supercharged KL

Was looking around on youtube seeing if compressed air superchargers have gained any ground and actually found someone who hooked up their air compressor to their KL powered Mazda something, mx6 maybe I can't really tell. lol.

This will do literally nothing for power. He is putting in unmetered air, the car will run lean, ECU will correct and thats why the RPM changed.

I mean if you had a tank that could dump a big charge through a MAF. The VAF ecu probably wouldn't work that well over atmospheric pressure. How many seconds of boost would you get though? The same effort to figure this out vs. putting a s/c where the a/c unit goes which actually works.

0 seconds. it would just blow out the air filter.

There is a real working system out there which is what I was watching when I found that other video.

              1) way more weight than a supercharger/turbocharger
              2) way more complexity and things to go wrong
              3) only lasts a few seconds and needs recharging (hence on a drag car)
              4) you need a scuba tank compressor to recharge it
              5) it costs way more than a supercharger/turbocharger
              6) etc

basically just because it can be done does not make it practical to do it.
