  • Time for a ZE Engine

So my car is currently out of commission, it burns oil like crazy and the exhaust smells worse than my 78 F-250. On top of that the coolant disappears instantly with no visible leaks, bad head gaskets. Needless to say it overheats and turns off at every stop. The engine has a little over 280,000 miles on it so it's about time.
Looking at replacing the engine with a ZE but seems like she is going to be sitting like that for a good while since i'll be getting married in about a month and looking for a house right after. It sucks to see her just sitting there not being able to drive her.

Do it. It's not bad and IF you have the time, it can be fun to do the swap and learn more about the car than you ever thought you would.

Or you could spend what 300 bucks on piston rings and head gasket. And
On your own time and fix her

The plan is to put in a ZE in and then down the line rebuild the current engine to boost. Baby steps.

Well the engine is there teasing me because it's not going into my car. It's going to go into this SE:

                            http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d1...5287298748.jpg

It's my sister's boyfriends car. I guess he was trying to get on my good side that he bought a probe but then seized the engine because of no oil.

So I am still engineless for my car.

Luckily they are easy enough to build, we're sort of doing "frankenZE" with a Ze top end and a g4 set of pistons, seeing as its a bit hard to get true Ze pistons readily. Rebuilding the stock de can have its good points, but just be careful on the heads, they get that hot and they seam to warp really bad. Good luck on the Ze swap.
it's not the fall that hurts, its the sudden stop at the bottom
