  • Thread about Cross-pollinating other car's car parts that work on the Probe..........

seems to me like good archive material, But where would it go?

    ------------------like:-------------------

You know how the Rear sway bar endlinks from a Nissan Altima fit our cars, and they are cheaper as well as a better design?

Or how the front upper strut mounts from a 97+ Ford Escort are an almost direct swap and offer an immediate 3/4" Drop?

Or how 2G front struts on a 1G lower it as well?

I believe there is a rumor that Jeff Jeske stuck Escort Transmission internals into a 2G Case with success.....

What about how Porsche 911 carrera brakes are direct fit on a 2G (twin pot!)....

You know, things like this......where would it go, so we could add to it all the DIY fun stuff.................. liquidpigravy

We could also have things about the opposite such as how some Probe stuff is not interchangeable, which I'm sure people would like to know.

hehe, i can help, on my 89 pgt, i have a 2nd gen gauge pod, 1st gen mx6 seats, and rx7 steering wheel, mx6 factory rear strut tower bar, and factory mx6 lower tie bar.
if u want a leather shift boot for your 1st gen, instead of the nasty plastic condom looking thing, the mustang leather shift boot fits very well.

                Very, very, close.
Bought 'em last year. Still working on this, damnit--I thought this was still under wraps.

When I get 'em done, I'll do a full write-up.

It was "out of wraps" in 1998 - it was just forgotten about to the maesses

I can tell you that the brake line off a 85 buick century is also a direct fit....around $12 at the parts store....whole lot cheaper than the $80 OE one from Ford...

Travis, Ken...you guys have one-upped me on the info. I was tryin' to sound like the cool kids and know a thing or two, and then bamm!!, I get nailed with the info.

Wasn't aware of the Porsche fit in 1998. Just bought some uber-brakes last year on a fluke and found out they're gal-darn close.

Anyways, good info, good thread, great idea to have this info on open-market.
