First thing you need to do is find the location that you'd want to mount them. Make round speaker rings with MDF using a router or jig-saw. The inside of the ring will measure somewhere around 7 inches in diameter, the outside of the ring is up to you, but at least 9 inches. Hot glue some pieces of dowel to the bottom of your ring to position it how you want against the doorpanel. If it were me i would cut a piece of MDF to the size and shape of the base that you want then take your ring with dowel pieces and hot glue it to the base. Next, stretch your felt over the setup and start with the fiberglass work. Enjoy

the best location would probably be where the factory speaker sits. Then make some kick panel pods for the speakers in the kicks

The better question is why would you put subs in the door?

I personally would just invest in better speakers for the front and rear and higher quality subs. Too much bass gets irritating after a while. I had two 12" subs but got sick of having absolutely no trunk space, so mad a fiberglass enclosure and couldnt be happier

If that is your desire then you need to look for a good set of 3 way components. Not alpine pioneer or something. Look at hertz, dine audio, dls, or audison. A woofer is not what u need.

8" woofers work very well they give you that bass up front instead of all behind you. i've wanted to put kick panels but i'm very worried of someone ruining them on me while getting in and out of the car
