  • Local who knows how to tune correctly?

Hey locals I'm in Trevor WI. I just installed a ze for the first time and I'm having a hard time getting the ignition timing right to allow for a smooth idle. Anyone willing to meet up and take a look for me? I'm not rich but I can pay some if really needed or just helping a fellow pgt owner would be great as well!

I think your asking what ecu? I just tried looking up what a standalone is and it seems to always be used in conjunction with talking about MS or and ecu... so I have extremethings ecu.

Ah ok. Well... what are you trying to tune, then? You don't have an ECU to tune.

I'm not trying to 'tune'. My bad with the title. I'm trying to get a smooth, in time, not puttering exhaust, idle.

Without going into too much detail, I can't get 10 btdc along with a correct ~650 idle. It's either one or the other.

I did just notice last night that my coolant level keeps dropping but I never saw any leaks. I figured out that it was dumping into the overflow which is causing air pockets in the coolant lines. This would make for a difficult time to set the idle and disty right?

I know we're starting to get into a 'fix it' area here so I don't wanna post in here if it's frowned upon... I do have a posting in Tech Section called "klze swap finalization questions" if you should respond there instead. Thanks for the interest in helping.

This is likely not going to happen unless you have a known good Air Idle Controller. Good ones are rare to find and new ones -well let's just say that you will have to sell your newborn.

So the solution is to set the idle at 800 or more and then set your idle. These IAC's SUCK!

EEEK!!! You weren't kidding! With my kids, I might need to sell 2 of them to get to that price

Other than testing resistance which I think ranges between 10.6 and 12.4 on this one, is there another way to test it? I got 12.2 with mine. The guy who I bought the car from put a ze IM on the stock de engine trying to get more out of it but I still have that de IM he took off which still has the IAC on it. Maybe I should try that IAC after checking resistance to at least see if there is a change.

BTW KLZE Porsch, I bypassed the coolant lines to the IAC. Not for any reason other than I didn't know which lines went to them... I figured it out tonight so I'll reattach them. But do you think this have anything to do with my issue?

Late to the party but the coolant lines run to the tb to allow it to switch to warm idle. Without them you'll be stuck in the cold idle all the time.

Disconnect battery.Put your lines back on. Fill coolant . Replace cap. Start car.
