Possibly TBT or TBTA or are they the same?
Ok, well did some searches and as the title underneath my name says "search impaired" (plus im at work while sending this). I am getting a pretty good knocking sound from the timing belt side of the motor. The knocking gets faster as i rev the car up in nuetral. My question is, can it be a bad TBT, TBTA (if they arent the samething) or could my FGS be getting louder now?
Any comments would be appreciated...help deh n00beh outteh.

the tbt is the part of the tensioner with the idler pulley on it, the tbta is the the hydralic cylinder if you ask for a tbta specify that it's the hydralic cylinder regardless if the guy thinks he knows what he's looking up. The tbta noise will ussally go away above ~2K , and your car will sound like a desiel engine when idling.

I've replaced three TBTAs in three months. The first wasn't broke, but I was replacing the water pump. The second lasted one week, the third almost three months. Both of those were Parts store rebuilds.
The moral of this story is: Go to Mazda and get a new one. They call it the tensioner and mine was $182 last week (vis a $148 at the parts store). While you're there get some of the oil plug gaskets. If they ask, it's the small one. (They gave me a handfull of both since I didn't know, gratis.) First one took eight hours, last one three, and my hands didn't hardly get dirty the last time.
