I just went 2.5" full exhaust

I just went 2.5" full exhaust on My 93 PGT KLZE - man it is insanely loud, I have the e-bay headers(SASS), 29" long cherry bomb, 2.5" piping and the giant fart can(it was good sounding with the cat and stock piping) But now it is hella loud after 3500 RPM.

Did everyones exhaust got really lound when they went to 2.5" piping???

There is no room for that cat, my cherry bomb is really long, I probably going to split it into two mufflers.

My butt dyno tells me I totally go some increase over the stock system, and my friend with turbo saturn tells me I gained about one or two turbo saturn psi's lol. Now that i think about it, It did at a few hp for sure, when i went to 18" rims I lost my wheel spin wt the top of the first gear, and now it back, I start to lose traction after 6k rpm thats from 2-3k roll.

just wait a few weeks til the cherry bomb burns out, then it will be horrible.

you might as well pm Jeff Jeske and order a resonated test pipe, because a straight thru exhaust will rasp, no ends ifs of buts about it. cat is the biggest rasp killer and the biggest muffler in the whole exhaust, when you get rid of it, you get rid of those 2 other things, so it will be loud and raspy.

now loud is good as long as its good loud and not shit loud. when your driving by and people are turning their heads looking for the ferrari that just drove by, thats good. when it sounds like your car is shitting taco bell shit thru a coffee can, thats annoying and just makes you look like an idiot.

get JJs pipe, those things work, cant wait to put mine in.

and one last thing, 2.5 inch pipe will be in tune way up top, thats why your breaking loose up top, because the exhaust flow gets in tune with the pipe size and starts properly scavenging and flowing. but down low, 2.5 inch pipe is too big and you wont get the proper scavenging down low.

sizing exhaust is a matter of where you want to make power at. if you size the pipe to be in tune up top, it will be too big down low. if you size the pipe to work down low, it will choke the top.

2.5 inch is a good size for a ZE

2 1/4. thats the pipe i was going to go with but then crashing my 93 kinda took a shit on my plans for the 93, so whenever i get some money to burn, ill redo my 95s exhaust with my ebay headers, JJ test pipe and 2.25 inch pipe with mandrel bends and a round magnaflow can under the car (where the resonator at) and another magnaflow where the stock muffler is at, and a nice double tip. something that looks stock, but flows way better and sounds way better, and with 2 mufflers and a JJ pipe, it wont be deafening

2.5 if your DE never sees under 6k rpms.

Yea, if your car is that loud, it's asking to get pulled over. And like hockeystyx said, just wait a few weeks til the cherry bomb burns out, then it will be horrible. I have 2.5 cursh bent piping, with a glass pack for resonator, and turbo muffler, no cats, and it sounds good, not overly loud.

^ I agree, there's a hand full of cars on this forum that should be running 2.5" exhaust, most need to be running 2" and 2.25" at most.

Same here I went to the dual Raptors and now its barely louder than stock up to 4K and if I hit it after the 3.5k I get that ferrari sound.

Just to be sure, are u talking about inner- or outer diameter when you say 2.5" is too much?

I'm asking because 2.5" outer diameter cat-back (~2.36" inner) gave my probe some good gains on the dyno.

In the automotive world, ID is almost always implied, as ID gives us our cross sectional area, which is all that matters when calculating mass air flow.

with boost the bigger the better to an extent like a 3" is good or a cut out is best. the faster the exhaust can get out the less restriction there is

2.5" minimum, most turbo cars on this forum should be using 3"

Thanks for the info, M.Hicks!

Was just wondering because when you order a 2.5" pipe here, you always get a pipe with 2.5" outer diameter. To be true I've never seen a pipe with 2.5" inner diameter, but this might be one of the differences between us and here.
