Thumbs down it flew but didnt land well

ok basicly i killed a dead dear that was just hit moments before i rounder a turn. the lady that hit it first was on the side of the road with her lights off. as soon as i started to come around the turn her lights came on. that got my attention and i got a bad feeling that she was going to pull out in front of me. she didnt but as i finished the turn and get around her there it is. the buck she hit laying in the middle of the road. no time to react cruise control still locked on 55. i impacted the dear and went airborn. wife was asleep in the passenger seat, son was asleep in the back in his car seat. everyone is ok but now the probe needs an unknown amount of work.

the body dont look too bad. i have most of the pieces of the front end. the back is busted up but can be fixed. passenger sideskirt has a small crack and the fender is tweeked enough to not allow the door to open. thats the good news.

the bad news. there is no antifreeze in the coolent system. most likely busted the radiator. the a/c cooler is busted but i never used that anyway. and there is zero motor oil in the motor. im thinking i most likely ruptured the oil cooler. but the oil filter seems to be at an interesting angle also. i will have to jack her up tomorrow to take a better look at her.

the worst. the buck was solid after being hit by the suv. but when i hit it its not so solid anymore. to fit the horns i had on the car behind the front bumper i had to cut part of the horn which made basicly a razer that i used to umm gut the dear. so who would like to volunteer to clean the parts hanging under the car out? trust me i will even pay someone to do this nasty job. my poor car is going to smell really bad real soon if i can get it running again and to the car wash to do an under carriage clean.

anyway heres the pics. like i said i believe it should be an easy fix but it will take me alot of time. man i really wish i had a garage.

nahh i had her towed due to dropping all the oil and antifreeze. after the incident the car still was running fine and it stayed running until i was able to get pulled over and stopped. i lost the percentage of oil after i had stopped and shut her off. so i dont believe there was damage done due to the loss of oil. not what all was physically damaged due the impact i wont know until tomorrow.

the front nose its pretty rough but i have fixed worse. i guess all the experience by rebuilding the noses on the local ricers cars for free will finally be put to good use.

I hate deer. I feel ya. I just wrecked my probe a few days ago swirving to miss a deer. Ran into a bunch of guide wires and smashed my crossmember and cracked my bumper, all from 15mph on ice. I hope all goes well for you

That sucks. Similar thing happened 2 me last year. I had jus got my H4s put in but we didn't adjust them so they were angled too high. I seen the dead dear on the highway @ the last minute & tried 2 avoid it, but my passenger side still hit it. There was no major damage, but it knocked it out of alignment. & I think it damaged my windshield fluid bottle.

Dear are really over populated in alot of areas & I wish they would grant bow & arrow hunting 2 knock down their numbers here. The dear here don't even freeze up when headlights hit them.

ya it will take some work. im getting ready to head out and get started.

so far i went to the insurance company. dont get excited. liability only. but idid get them to cover the tow bill and i had them suspend the coverage on the probe untill i get it back on the road.

as far as getting discouraged. you dont have to worry about that. im looking at the brighter side of things. i still had body work to do anywy. i had not yet painted the car, the tabs i had holding the clear corners gave away and allowed the corners to move as needed so they wouldnt get busted. i found out that the oatmeal looking rap all over the passenger side rims is from the grit and grass off the edge of the road, (thank gawd) and i have all of teh major pieces to be able to put the nose back together.

**EDIT**

UPDATE!

ok the radiator wasnt busted. it was just a bit low on antifreeze. and because as you know it dont have to be too low to look empty the way these things are designed.

the ps cooler is NOT leaking but will most likely be replaced later on.

a/c cooler is busted as i thought. i guess come spring i will look into just removing the a/c.

now for the oil loss. i reached up and grabbed the filter. it was tightened down but the base it attached to was loose. i removed the oil filter (it was crushed against the oil pan so it made it a pita.) the oil filter is where it was leaking. as for the base that it screws to being loose. i just had to go and buy a 30mm deep well socket and tighten down the nut that held it on. there is zero oil leaks as far as i can tell now.

please note. hitting a buck is NOT what you should do to have an excuse to change your oil! just change it. its alot less messy that way.

as for the mess. i called my insurance and informed them i had it going so they canceled out the suspension i had done on the insurance when i thought it may be down for a while. then i drove it over to the car wash and used the automatic wash for the under belly spray. i figured it would be good enough to clean up under there. well it did but it left the chunks. thus i had to go to the diy bay and finish up. i was even nice enough to clean the parts up off the ground for the old man that works there. you would have thought i gave him $100 or something. anyway the car is running again. i will tie up some corner lights later. i have already removed the nose and the back is currently tied up. it will need to be removed but at least the car is driviable and clean underneath. that was my goal for the day and i was able to do it with a bit less effort than i thought it would take. now for getting the car back in shape. that will take a bit longer to do.

O, man that stinks. Bring it out to NY and I'll give you a hand with the kit. I had to get a new millenium front bumper for mine and it cost 375 to get it to me. At least it wasn't molded..............

well the the nose is now sitting in the back room of my house. its doubtful i will be able to do the actual fiberglass until it warms up enough to be able to do that out side. that stuff will stink up a house for days. but until i can get to that point i still have a lot of work to do.

plans for tomorrow will start out seeing if i can get in to the dr for the blood work that i was suppose to do today. with everything it totally slipped my mind.

tie up a set of corner lights on the front of the car so im legal.

remove the rear bumper cover from the car to prep for repair. this will be a job to remove since one side of it was molded which is now cracked in the pic in the first post.). install the rear blue base cover that came off of iodinevii's car.

then i may start cleaning up the edges of the front cover. once i get teh edges cleaned up i will be able to drill and pop rivet some braces to hold this thing together. then there wont be much left that i can do but sit it aside and out of the way until it gets warm enough outside to start the fiberglass work.

may start the repair work on the rear also depending on how im feeling after i get everything else finished first.

and if there is still time and i still have energy left i may continue some of the prep work on the dash that i will be fiberglassing. i bought the material i will be using for matting for this project a few hours before i gave my car something to "eat".

^PMS you have young Skywalker.

Man that sucks bro, I almost had a bad incident this morning with a broken logs on an off ramp, I hit one of them but I guess it was small enough just to thunk and not do any damage.

Better now than when you have it all done.

dropped out my freshman year of high school due to my living situation put me on the street at 15 and i have had to support myself since. now unless you have anything intelligent to add to the thread then dont post here so the thread dont get closed. if you would like to inform me on how stupid i am please keep it to private message. that way we are not wasting everyones band with reading lame ass posts. also note my first post was less than 2 hours after the wreak.

i would like to publicly apologize to you for not being smart enough to make a post worth your time. now that you are aware of how stupid i am feel free to never read another post of mine. my feelings wont be hurt. i would also like to let you know that my spelling wont get any better unless firefox improves their spell checker.

**UPDATE**

anyway. i have brought the front bumper cover inside now and started to slowly piece it back together. so far i have cut the alloy strips i will use to put it back together. then i sanded and aligned one of the cracks and installed 2 braces on the back side of it. 2 pop rivets on each end totaling 8 pop rivets. it will be stronger than it was in these areas even before i am able to do the fiberglass work.

i didnt get anything done on the car itself today due to the fact i had a dr appointment i had to do since with every thing going on it totally slipped my mind yesterday. i was glad they were able to get me in today at least.

after i get more pics uploaded of this project i will update with a link to where ll the pics can be viewed.

I feel your pain. I hit a deer two weeks ago. The pics are posted on where somewhere. Hope you get it all taken car of. My insurance is taking their sweet time. I had a shop estimate $2600 worth of damage. So on the story goes. Of course they gotta total it, just gonna take what they give me and put it back together myself.

Anyway good luck, get it all back together.

Apparently if you'd learn to read you'd apparently know the situation. Stop posting stupid shit, the pic makes no sense whatsoever.

If you can't read the post, or won't take the time to, don't put in your childish comments to the thread at hand.
