quiet ass blow off valve

it kinda bugs me how quiet my blow off valve is. I dont know if its cause i'm only running 8 psi but you cant even hear it when you let off the throttle. does anybody know why and/or how to get it louder?

kinda a rice question but i love the sound and would like to hear it, Also its a Greddy RS knockoff

Its the bov man.... i am on 5psi and mine is loud. Your 8psi is plenty to make a bov loud. One of my friends had a greddy knockoff and his was quiet, he was running 10psi

holy crap polar, last i checked you were only running like 5-6psi now your at 8-10psi, what are you using to tune now? im still pulling a steady 6psi, but im using a 1st gen DSM blow off valve, cheap and quite loud.

ive been through 3 different BOVs, stock DSM, HKS knockoff, and now ebay knockoff. i think they are opening but its hard to say, i know i do get alot of compressor surge...

i dont really know where i'd hook it up at then because its right on the port near the throttlebody on the manifold.

as far as tuning, im not using anything at the moment, trying to work out a deal on MS

If you get compressor surge, it may mean you dont have the right turbo.

Mine would surge when I had my ebay hks type bov with a smaller turbo. I got an ar .50 cold side and ar .63 back side and itsd LOUD.

Also the Greddy type S bov will be very silent. I have both for when I want to be stealthy, or when i want to be loud I slap on the hks type.

ok i have a type S greddy knokoff but it did not open so i opened it up and took out the smaller spring and left the bigger spring in there and now it opens... its not crazy loud but im only at 3.63 psi right now...

i would open the bov and see if you have 2 springs if you do take one out and try that...

Its the spring, my friend is running t3/t4 and he got ebay dual horns BOV and his compressor surged right away, he took it apart, wiped off the sticky grease inside and changed for a softer spring, now it works amazing.

he pulled one off his turbo XS type s BOV, but you can go to a hardware store and pick a weaker spring, put it in the parking lot, drive it, if it still too strong, go back and trade it.

nope. but this bov was on my friend's boosted legacy and was loud as shit on there, he got a tial BOV and gave me this one...

its so retarted, even when you boost it makes no sound all you hear is compressor surge or a big vaccum leak sound

in that case try to relocate the vac source and check the line for leaks.

If you're getting compressor surge, then the blowoff valve isn't opening enough, or even opening at all. The BOV you have will make plenty of noise if working right, trust me. Even at 6PSI my knockoff sounded almost as loud as my authentic RS on 8PSI (Different car and motor, but same concept)

I think you should start by loosening the adjustsment screw all the way till it barely holds on, and then boost the car. If it doesn't sound loud then, then you have a different issue, or the spring is shot.

But most of the time if the spring is shot, it will blowoff all the time, not cease to blowoff at all. Plus if you've had the same issue with 4 blowoffs now, I'd doubt it's the reason for the issue, as you've been saying.

Try a different vacuum source if all else fails.
