  • My 1997 PGT rebirth thread

This thread will be for pics of work as it progresses. Some just random shots and some are pointed at specific projects. This is just the beginning.

Pulled the PGT back into the shop for some R&R.

First line of work is to re-baseline the car. I have added onto and removed stuff from this car for close to 20 years now. First off is removing the Profec A, HKS turbo Timer and Viper alarm along with repairing some aged wiring and poor installs.

Chrome wheeled, fuel injected, and steppin out over the line

The maple tree seeds had me worried

Did you color match the Model A motor to the Probe?

No those are constantly falling, I had just washed it before bringing it in and those made it with the car.

The Hotrod engine is Detroit Diesel Alpine Green, just liked that color for the era build. The color is way off the probe - although it does share the Alpine name

Loved this car way back, always appreciated the aftermarket support from you. Your car was one of the reasons I bought a PGT in the first place. The other one was blue a '95(I think) GT that was referred to as "SuperProbe" at the time. I can't seem to find anything on that car, it seems to have disappeared.

What are your plans with it now?

SuperProbe was a friend of mine named Michel Fortier - the namesake of the short run Fortier hood as well. He sold the car many years back and nobody has heard of it since.

I'm not sure what I plan on doing to the car, just updating and giving it the attention it deserves.

I saw SuperProbe once. I was too much of a newbie to talk to the guy. The car was cool, but not impressively fast...even by 1999 standards.

BigProbe was the first fast one I remember. One of the first turbo'd 2nd gens I can think of. I remember it was a huge milestone when hit 250whp.
