  • Hot, hot KLs

I live in NY where 80 is very hot. For as hot as KLs run... how do you guys keep them from overheating in the Florida summer? I can see if they're constantly moving how you'd be fine, but what about getting stuck in traffic?

as long as your cooling system is working properly there should be no issue. I live in charlotte nc and in the summer it gets pretty hot. Im running a ZE with no problems even sitting in traffic jams with the A/C maxxed out

I drove my KL this summer thru an entire week that was 95-100*.. even one day that was 110* and had no issues.

I've never perceived an engine to be so hot in my whole stint with cars. I've never actually seen mine overheat but I guess the fact that the one dinky fan runs only unless the A/C is on kinda freaks me out.

The cooling system on the Probe GT is a bit of overkill.....while the engine bay does get heat soak, the actual engine only overheats if there is a major malfunction (both fans don't work, water pump belt breaks, hose gets a hole in it)

Hmmm...mine starts to overheat when just the one fan is on. I have them both set to start up when I put the key in the IGN. Then again it could be because Im running without a thermostat.

I've heard that running no thermostat is actually better but after doing it, I dont think it is much better because sure its fine when your running but while in traffic I'd say that having the water/coolant continuously flow would hinder the cooling process. When I get my car back on the road I plan on running a thermostat again just to see if my observation is correct or not though.

Oh yea I'm in Puerto Rico where the lows are 70s during "winter" and the highs are ~105 during summer.

flush your engine, change your coolant and use demineralised water, check there are no obstructions through the radiators airflow path, put your car into diagnostic mode and flip the TPS, both fans should come on (confirmation they work). dont take the thermostat out!

i can tell you if my car doesnt overheat in summer no probe should. 105 is the cold part of summer down here.

I have no ac but u have both fans come on at the same time. it stays right at the r on normal. Sitting in traffic or collecting lots of dirty air I'll run em when I'm the city but that's it. I can't drive it much in the high humidy/heat lol. Black on black with no ac is like a sweat shop inside

if your running with no thermostat then the system is running open loop all the time and if the cooling system is working properly the thing would take like an hour to even get warm! something is clogged and causing your issue...there is with out a doubt a problem there that needs to be fixed.
