Hello everyone my first post on the forum, I have an issue that seems to be quite common but I'm not finding any posts with solutions.
1996 Probe manual transmission, one day it just wouldn't start had to get it tilt trayed home and then it did start, I parked it and it hasn't started since. Initially I thought it was fuel as the pressure was low so I replaced the filter and then then I replaced the pump. Now has great pressure. It was then I detected it didn't have spark so I replaced the front crank sensor, nothing changed. I then replaced the starter motor as it was slowly dying and the alternator as it wasn't the greatest when it was running. All the forums I've read say replace the distributor so I ordered a new one and fitted it, still nothing. I've checked all the fuses multiple times, traced wires and connectors looking for damage. I've checked the negative earth connectors and all seems good. With the key on the distributor and the coil has 12 volts. When I bought the car the check engine light had been removed, I have since refitted it and no surprise the check engine light is on. I've tried to jump the diagnostic to see fault codes but the check engine light just stays on, no flashes. The SRS light was also removed and the blue box was disconnected. I have put back the light and reconnected the box which makes a beeping noise and the light flashes three times. I've read a few posts that say the SRS system fault shouldn't affect the engine. The couple of months that I drove the car I had no issues even with the check engine light and the SRS bulbs out. I have a 1994 donor car here for parts (auto trans), the ECU is different though. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Preston
