  • Flyrtle 2012 - Maryland Edition?

I've been getting a lot of requests lately to do a Flyrtle reboot and have been looking for a way to make it more convenient and more entertaining for all the out of state attendees. Since Florida is really far away for most everyone and our marquee cars down here have all been sold or parted I felt a location change to the north would be beneficial by placing it back in an area with a concentration of nice cars and reducing the travel time for the majority of attendees.

So here's the deal for this year, August 26th, Capitol Raceway in Maryland in conjunction with Import Face Off which is the largest import series in the US with over 30 dates a year and arguably the most well executed event as well. It's a full scale event complete with car shows, racing, & lifestyle events that will allow us to create our own race class for Probetalk cars with 100% payback to the winners. This is the perfect opportunity to get everyone together and see the fastest PT cars in the country go head to head and see the nicest ones in the country in the car show.

For the race class it would be lopsided to make it heads up so it will be a bracket style race with all the grudge matches scheduled in qualifying to make the competition fair and have a good turnout on the track. And yes, Sean and I will be building something KL powered to trailer up there and race as long as we see enough vocalized support on the forums, facebook, etc.

The race/show is on a Sunday which leaves Saturday free for other activities such as a dyno day, bbq or whatever floats your boat. Since it's out of state for me most of that will be handled by the guys up there like lilpavel, Adam & Isaac.

I've already contact some of the big guys around the country and received positive responses (you know who you are). So let's get some traffic in this thread and prove PT still has the chops for a big national meet. If you guys are in, I'm in

Andy, as much as I would love to go, I cannot. I have the cruise in June and a wedding in Vegas two weeks prior to this. I cannot take that much time off of work this year..I don't have anything major planned for next year though, so I could prolly do 8.0 if there is one!

I would love to see this happen though! I really want to try and have a national meet somewhere every year..especially after the trip down to WPB for the last one!

Closer than South Florida at least. You could probably pick up on some caravans along the way.

Sounds like a busy year for you. Start a buzz going on in your area for 7.0 and if we get this one off the ground we may have a nice formula for an 8.0. But we have to get 7 going before looking forward to 8.

On/In the same boat as John. Unless i win the lottery then it wont happen for me, cruise and wedding in vegas. Another major travel plan wont be in the budget this year.

I can say that it will be a lot of fun and you wont regret going. I would definitely be there.
