  • Timing belt replacing.

I am planning to replace my timing belt before i get my car back on the road this year since it has been stored for over 4 years (with some very little driving here and there) for my whole project. Of course i will also renew all the fluids and oil etc.
Now should i also replace the waterpump? And get this kit?
Or just that kit without the waterpump?
Also was thinking about putting on the High Performance blue belt
Also need to put in a new alt, was thinking on the denso
Any more things that is good tte replace in that area since i am working on there then?

Replace the belt, tensioner, pulleys, and water pump.
Try to get metal idlers, not plastic like that kit has.

Check out the Milly Alternator swap. It bumps your output up quite a bit!

Any other belts to replace over there maby?
      And you mean ALL pulleys?
And i have been thinking about the 110A Millenia alt, but you will need a Millenia bracket and from what i could find in my search on here they are hard to find.

        There are only 2 idlers.

You could replace the accessory belts? I like to pull the accessory belt tensioners off and lube them up.

Why are you lubing up a SEALED bearing? Unless you are talking about lubing the bolt that tightens the belt (not a bad idea if you are driving the car in salted areas, but otherwise unnecessary)...there is NOTHING that should be lubed on the tensioners.

Also, don't use plastic idlers....the stockers last for a LONG time.

Sorry for bumping into this thread, but are the 2 idles identical? Are they same size? I see plastic idlers everywhere, kinda hard to find decent idlers.

i Was thinking of replacing the 2 other accessory belts.
              Alternator Belt with AC
              Power steering Belt with AC

And what pulleys and idlers do i need to change? i take it the 2 idlers on the timing belt plus the tensioner and wanted to install a King6 manual tensioner.
Any other that are good to replace?

And where do i find metal or good idlers?

Rockauto should have some metal idlers if I remember correctly. Some members on here may have some laying around.

I can't find them on there, even the most expensive ones are plastic.

The accessory belt tensioners. The adjusting bolt corrode to the aluminum then breaks when you adjust them . And they are hard to find.

If your idlers are ok, just leave them. Or press out and install new bearings in them.

                    Anti seize all the bolts!!!!!!!!

By pulleys you only ment the 2 idlers? Or other pulleys?

Okay, so my probe has driven about 60000 miles. Can i keep the stock idlers?
Only replace the timing belt tensioner

if your car only has 60K on it.....why are you doing a timing belt?

Because the car has been stored for over 4 years and it is very dry and it's save to change it.
I rather don't take any risk about that and replace the belt(s) in stead of let the current one snap and turn my low mileage block into rubbish.

It's recommend to change the timing belt every 5-10 years or after 100.000 km.
