  • Reminded why PT rules!!!

I have definitely got a great feel of why PT -being one of the first and most productive websites back in the days -is still my #1 car resource. Probe Talk beats the competition hands down in my opinion.

I recently joined Miata.net because I needed a lot of information about Miata Suspension for my Spitfire build. I needed to know which gen suspension is best, which gen differential is strongest and a lot of other general information. I posted questions and nobody answered. I would have probably gotten the information that I needed here much more readily.

I am sorry if there are any Miata fans here -and it is nothing personal about you -but the Miata.net website sucks. People give their Miatas people names and brag about it like it is a badge of honor to name your car. I think this is one of the most ridiculous car things I have ever seen -next to some of the crap that they bolt onto their cars.

The website is plagued with people posting about their new steering wheel, their new luggage rack, waxing their cars, a new shift knob, stickers etc. There are very few out-of-the box builds -unless I just didn't find them due to getting bored with "look at my new wax job on my red Miata" posts. OMG -if I see another red Miata -I think I am gonna puke!

Our website is so packed full of out-of-the-box thinkers and builders -that it puts other websites to shame. Don't get me wrong -there are a very few Miata people over there who are somewhat like our "thinkers" and "doers" here -but I can probably count them on one hand. However, there is absolutely no shortage of red Miata's and wax over there.

And don't look to their community to get some quick answers to questions -because you may never get the answers.

    PT rules!

Sadly "real" builds are disappearing everywhere. My local car site also is filled with steering wheels, wax, and tint.

Hell a guy building a big hp mrk4 supra isn't even getting noticed.

Yup -that seems to be the trend that I am noticing. Even here -the ones who were doing all of the notable builds have disappeared. Sounds like from a recent post that Mac1 totaled his Probe and is out of the Probe game. Dan hasn't posted any new good stuff for us. Daycycle disappeared and never gave us a taste of his KJ powered RX8.

I would put my Spitfire build on here -but it may not end up getting a KL motor and so nothing would be KL related. And the XT Probe and Bonneville Dreamer have stalled indefinitely due to another project (not my own) getting constant upgrades and changes to the original plan.

I really miss the innovative builds from the past.

When I'm over at the Jeep forum I swear I'm just bored to tears with the site. It's all tires wheels and lift kits, real stuff getting done, but very little innovation. NO body can make a Jeep 4.0l into a real firebreather, it's 2v, intake and exhaust on the same side. And oh lordy don't show up lowered MR2 stuff is interesting, but expensive, and anything you're going to do there is all Toyota, or a k swap.

The Miata facebook page is worse, it just young kids making "hairdresser" and homosexual jokes, any attempt to get real information is met with idiocy. Maybe turbo Miata is better.

I also have a 2004 Volvo S60R. The Swedespeed site dealing with them still has people modifying their cars. The need for speed isn't entirely dead.

miss the old days as well. What can i add that Micheal didn’t say already. I didn’t want the probe gone, It wanted me gone and left a lasting impression with me. Many people still know me as that guy with the oddball build and it will be mentioned from time to time.
Fond memories of towing probe with a probe and getting :thumbs up:

The time I hustled $20 from a dumb kid in a sn95 who then googled Frankenprobe and was shocked thinking he raced a 10sec car. Lolololololool.

Not too long ago i threw out a collection of KL disty parts. That’s when i kinda knew it was over.

Towing a Probe with a Probe beats the sad Corsica I saw randomly today, getting pushed by a 90's Chevy plow truck. Beats it by a lot. Tracer vids would be great. There's not enough videos of automotive shannanigans around here. I mean interesting stuff, not just quick trips to Mexico.

Still keeps getting *** in the URL -which seems to be misdirecting it to a non-existent video.

As of yesterday I now own two PGT, a 93 & 94. One will be used to get my daily driver the 94 in a better condition. before these two I had a 95 PGT and a 95 SE (which was my first manual car I drove back in 07). During the time I had the 95 PGT, it was painted primer grey, I was at a pick and Pull in Sac looking for parts. I left the place and saw someone looking at my GT, It ended up being the person who told me about PT. It was Dan[Sac], he drove his RWD Probe that day and showed it to me, it was really and amazing build. I'd never seen anyone do something like that before, and with that I started to get hooked. I ended up selling the Grey PGT I had and started driving an 00 Focus. It wasn't long after that I wanted the PGT again. I found one for $600 in Crescent City CA, Note I live in SD. I arranged for my family member to look at it, it didn't run, it had body damage, rusted rotors, and leaked every fluid but fuel, for that time at least. I dropped about $300 in new parts and $200 in two tires. There have been their fair share of problems along the way, from the steering rack blowing, and a line blowing later that caused a fire and melted everything around the VRIS. Some time before that a fuel line blew after putting in a new pump and screen. She has a cursed power draw I haven't searched for yet, been busy with adulting. But I drive her everyday, she will next be getting lowed with a better suspension (it's loose in turns and slides in bumps in them), Later once I get the body good, is a possible kit, then paint or just paint. Then a turbo, as for the 93 I'll either make it like the 94 or make it for the strip. But all things are controlled by funding and tools, when I do anything big I'll start posting about it, but right now it's just been general stuff to keep her on the road. But the PGT building is not over, I know there are people out there doing stuff that just hasn't been put up here.

                              Sorry for the long story.
