^^^I'm not referring to our conversation. Someone else messaged me. While I wouldn't consider $50 for door handles cheap, it is fair with how everything is going. PM me if you still have them.

That RIGHT there is EXACTLY what I was waiting for. One of the biggest persons to overcharge on PT for those crap harness' that consume more gas than it would if it was left stock!!!![/QUOTE]

I have one of the harnesses from before the a/c was figured out. I have no complaints. A lot of work goes into those. I've tried to make one myself and just sorting out the what goes to what gives me a literal headache each and every time. Then there's the materials, time it takes to make one. So far as gas mileage goes, I get better gas mileage with it, than with a 95 DE ECU on a straight neck. That's with it pulling harder at higher rpms, and lower rpms feeling the same. I'd definitely buy another at the price I paid.

Like I said, I haven't installed mine yet so I can't review it. But it's just ironic that the person who wants to shut the thread down without giving any input is the same person I've given free parts to. It's also ironic that he charged me $30 more than he used to. But whatever. My issue isn't with him. It's with the whole thing.

It's good to discuss this, even if it brings out a little but hurt, as long as it's only a little. I think I overpaid for one item I bought through this site. It's a risk you take. I'd say it's less risk than ebay or sometimes a JY when you don't know whether something will work. Everything I bought was what it was supposed to be and in good condition and was stuff I couldn't find anywhere else at the time. Sometimes you have to factor in that convenience factor.

it really all boils down to how much someone is willing to pay to modify and/or maintain their probe. The part which gets me is when someone is trying to financially rape someone for an imperfect part where the imperfection is not disclosed when it is obvious/known beforehand. These sort of things need to be divulged and the price adjusted accordingly. If people would abide by this then the sellers of high priced items without defect should be able to get as much as they can for their part.

I have not seen the quality -nor do I know how much is being charged. But what I do know -is that I have built high quality wire harnesses before -and with the kind of work that needs to go into a decent harness -you can't ask enough to cover the labor and expenses! It is a fact! It takes me a long time to make a decent harness -and if I were to try to cut that time down -the quality would suffer as a result. And what is the point of buying a jacked up harness to improve something?

So if he charged $30 more -maybe he is making a desperate attempt to find motivation to keep making them -when his efforts and costs should probably dictate a higher price hike than $30. That is just my .02 from all my years of building harnesses -and why I don't build them to sell.

Thank Pick-N-Pull. They go around the country buying up all of the mom-n-pop junk yards with the goal to jack up the price to 1/3-1/2 the price of retail. It happened to the 3 pull-a-part locations we used to have within 20 minutes of Everett. Gone are the days when you could get a used alternator for 8 bucks. But Schnitzer loves the extra revenue so I doubt anything will ever change. ****ing capitalism.

It's called haggling... 10 for that, you must be mad. I've seen EQs go for too much (can't remember how much but more than I wanted to pay.) I waited a loooooooong time and got one for $15-20 from another member. Same for a complete ZE engine. I paid 3 times what PaP would charge for a V6. I got a very clean, low miles, ZE with DE retainers and springs swapped, a freakin museum piece. It was less than shipping one from Japan, less than buying the extra parts, putting in the work to swap the springs, retainers and yank the engine myself.

If you don't like K-mart prices you don't stand in the aisles at K-mart throwing a fit, you shop elsewhere, someplace you know is cheaper. Personally, I don't like waiting in long lines, a lack of better choices, (everything is cheap because everything IS cheap,) and the hidden costs of govt. assistance for nearly all the cheaper stores employees, all the little stores, the local mom and pops closing down literally ruining America. End rant.

Try waiting for a for sale thread with a lot of parts being sold, probably some wiggle room on price when there is a lot to deal with.

Excuse me? I quoted you $40 shipped for the steering wheel, then you wanted me to throw in the wiper switch and I refused. I said $50 shipped for the wiper switch assembly and the steering wheel and you said that was to much.

Shipping the steering wheel and the wiper switch safely to you would cost me around $15, then you factor in my time to actually remove the part, pack it, drive it to the post office the fact that I have the part you need in the first place. All said and done I make around $30.

After the wheel was removed I noticed a chunk out of the back of it and refunded your money with explanation promptly.

I hate when people try and compare pick n pull to individual sellers. We are not pick n pull, nor are you paying $2 to get in or pulling the part your self.

"well I can get it for $11 at pick n pull." Good for you, go to pick n pull then.

All said -I look at prices on eBay and at P-a-P and then come here -because members here almost always are cheaper than any other method. Only occasionally is there a mixed up and confused person with junk items to sell at Mercedes prices. I have seen a few of those -but they don't ever end up selling their parts.

I think in my opinion -PT is the best place to buy used Probe pieces in decent shape and for a decent price.

Well I know first hand how much work they are as I have built my own and done TONS of research to build it.
Let me ask you this, is your CEL on with the swap? If yes (which is the case with scotts PNP harness'), then you either don't pay attention to mileage or you are some degree of blind. Because ANY mechanic that knows ANYTHING about how a pcm controls an engine with the cel on would tell you 2 things, 1. that gas mileage is and would be affected ( because the computer is pouring the fuel to it because it's in limp mode) and 2. performance with the cel on is also affected.
Does his swap gain hp and tq? yes it does, but that's not my argument. My argument is that better hp/tq and gas mileage numbers would be a lot better with the cel OFF. AND YES before you ask I was running my swap all last year with the cel OFF 100% all the time and the car hauls ass and got good mileage (unfortunately I have a very heavy right foot) so I can't put a number on the mileage improvement. My swap cost me about $100 canadian (so about $70 USD). But I need some more work to make it perfect, which will hopefully be completed, then the car will be dynoed before and after.

Wasn't referring to you. Seeing as how I purchased the wheel at your price. Nice try though.

Thank you all for lessons in haggling and how forums work in general, where would the world be without brains like yours to guide us? Jesus, some of you get in your feelings way too easy. My point the entire time has been to ask others to pay what you'd pay. Honestly, who doesn't think that's a good way to go about things?

As for closing the thread just because it hurts your butt, you've got people on both sides of the discussion and this has been the most traffic to a particular thread in months, so that doesn't make much sense.

Moral of the story: Don't be a Richard.
