Okay, so it's not a ZE, it has KL-101 and KL-1A1. As long as it works and I can drive my car again, I'll be a happy camper. Plus it gives me practice to installing the real thing later.

You can still have the kl01 heads and cams with the curve neck, but it's very possible to have the high compression pistons. It's been said on here before, but by the stamping number on the throttle body it should tell you if it has them or not. Sorry I can't remember the correct number, but I'm sure someone else who knows will chime in.

The curve neck ZE with kl01 heads and cams are pretty common motors but any that I've seen have the high compression pistons in them. I have one currently in my car, one on an engine stand and the original one that was in my car. But are usually pretty clean.

Not true at all. Trying doing some research first before you post something.

To tell you the truth, I got a little scared to even start on it. I started taking it apart to clean it up and do some maintenance on it. I think i'm going to do the timing belt as one side of the belt is a little chipped. I just hope I can do it as I haven't done it before.
Then there is still the issue of bringing the car to me to do the swap.

I noticed that the rear head was a lot cleaner than the front head.

the head issue is kind of normal. probably VCG or maybe the grommet on the PCV isn't sealing properly.

where's the car now? heh, i should take my probe up there so i can swap out my rack without any issues from my overlord. just waiting on getting it from napa.

The car is in hesperia and I bought a house in Pomona so I have to bring it down here. The rack is something I have to replace as well but it will be a lot easier to do with the engine out.

that was my plan too, plus i wanted to swap out the heads on my ZE with the heads i took off of my mx-6's ZE before i got rid of the car.

for now, i'll do the easiest thing: the rack. i still have to get the heads cleaned up.

I got the engine all cleaned up and I changed the water pump and timing belt. Was easier than I thought.

yeah, the water pump and timing belt are pretty easy to do, especially with the engine out of the car.

btw, i should be getting my rack in on tuesday. hopefully i can get it done before the end of the year.

Okay, so I just noticed that the timing belt kit I got was the different size water pump shaft. My question is do I need to get another water pump or can I just get the correct sized pulley?

                          Thanks for any input

you can just get the right pulley. junk yard should have them if you can find a probe/mx-6/626 in there.

i'm curious. what size shaft did the pump have eric? 32mm? i wound up having to replace my pump not too long before i shut the car down. place gave me the 32mm shaft. i was lucky though, because my mx-6 had that size and i had kept the pulley.

i still have my 16mm though. the new rack i bought actually came with the rubber bushing for the mounting clamp. sweet.

The engine had the 32mm and the timing kit had the 16mm.
I went to one junk yard a found nothing. I think it's going to be harder to find parts at the junk yard for probes.
