Ive been a part of the Probe community for over a decade. And I've been a member of this forum for just as long. And overall it's been great. But with this latest project I've noticed something very disheartening.. Why the hell are members of this forum trying to get rich off of other members for their parts? Everytime I ask someone what they're looking for out of something, I'm hit with some absurd number. The Probe community didn't used to be this way. For god's sake if I'm looking for a small interior part I don't want to spend $100 for it. This forum is and has always been dedicated to keeping these cars on the road and giving people a place for information. Not a place to make real cash. People are able to invest in these cars because they're cheap. They're not a high dollar car.

Don't get me wrong, your entitled to request whatever you want from your parts. But remember there may come a day when you're looking for something, and would you pay what you're asking someone else to pay? And I'm not talking about the rare and sought after pieces (Ie Shoguns, leathers, 1 piece door panels, etc), no, get your money for those. But let's chill out on raping members for basic stuff. Again this is a community, lately it doesn't seem like it.

    End rant.

I think it is as XRP has said. They are getting to be extremely rare. And places like pull-a-part or pick-and-pull have been steadily raising their prices through the roof. It is places like these big box JYs that are driving used part prices. Ebay is also driving the prices.

I used to chip and sell ECUs -but haven't done it much any more because the average cost of an unmodified and un-guaranteed ECU has gone up to well over $100 with many hitting near the $200 mark. This leaves very little to no profit margin for people who want to modify and sell.

I used to be able to go to PAP and grab a wheel barrel of parts and end up with a tab most of the time -under $100. Try that these days -and you will be offering a kidney or liver. So you can't complain too much about people on here probably asking a little more than they would have -say 8 years ago or so! I don't think anyone on here has any intention of trying to get rich from selling Probe parts. If they do -then they might be a little

yep what is said above. That is why anytime there is one in a local yard. I take all clips, and panels that typical get more use and break. Even bolts that hold stuff together. Switches, console pieces all of it. I figure at some point I'll need it and everything is super cheap at a yard here compared to prices online.

Just 3 years ago I could walk into nearly any junk yard and be greeted by over a dozen Probes. These days I know of a single junk yard that has 3 Probes in which I have been slowly picking parts off of for the past 12 or so years. I use to have a large amount or spare parts built up also. Slowly those parts have ether been used or sold. Finding parts cars is getting harder and when you do find one it costs a testy or two in order to buy it. I have given away parts in the past just because I was out of room. A lot of what I have left is staying in storage in case I personally ever need it for my car. I may part with some of the stuff down the road but I for one wont be giving away the parts that I was smart enough to start saving up nearly a decade ago.

Maybe I didn't make myself clear. I'm not saying that since we're on this site we should be giving parts away for free or for ridiculous prices. No. What I'm saying is that it's ridiculous what some guys are trying to get out of their parts. In the past 2 months I've been quoted $95 shipped for an ash tray lid, $105 shipped for a wiper switch, & 100 plus shipping for door handles. That's stupid. Like I said, ask someone to pay what you would pay.

And Scott (pile of rd1), it's funny you should comment seeing as how I spent good money with you and actually DID throw in parts for free. Would you trade one of your custom harnesses for an ash tray lid and a wiper switch? Because the prices equal out.

That RIGHT there is EXACTLY what I was waiting for. One of the biggest persons to overcharge on PT for those crap harness' that consume more gas than it would if it was left stock and also leaves the cel on all the time!!!!

I've just made practice lately of buying whole parts cars, breaking them down and keeping everything when given the opportunity lol

He makes plug and play harnesses for the VAF to MAF conversion. I have yet to install mine so I can't speak on its effectiveness. But I've heard good and bad.

It's not just here. I'm a member of another board for a vehicle that had low production numbers from the start. Over the years on that board, I've seen certain people nitpick the $#|+ out of other vehicles and/or parts being listed for sale so THEY could possibly get a good deal, only to turn around and ask for top $$$ when THEY were the person doing the selling.

I told you $50 shipped and you said no thanks....I can also get other parts as well and would have no issue giving a fair price. $50 shipper for 1 piece black handles that work is cheap.
