  • What is everyone up to now

I doubt this thread will get the response I hope it will but we'll try anyway.

I was going through my photobucket last night (holy hell, whats with all the ads and pop ups!?, reminds me of trying to find porn when I was 14.) and it took me way back. I dug through the pt archives for a few hours and couldn't help but get a little sad. I remember logging on here and spending hours digging through new threads. Now, I check in around once a month and its still the same old stuff. Shame everyone has moved to social media and facebook. I miss the activity this place use to have.

So I suppose ill go first. I sold my last probe a few years ago (prolly longer than that ago). Didn't really want to, it was just time for a change. I bought an frs and had some plans, but as with everyone else, life took over for awhile. I finally married the girl I had been with since 17 years old (turned 29 last month). We bought a house, and did the adult thing for awhile. I kept busy with other side cars (mostly civics, got pretty big into wire tucks and shaving engine bays) and house projects. Life got pretty boring for a bit. Not too many of my friends were still doing car things. Most have kids and their free time reflects that. The wife and I do not plan to have kids. We needed a change. Her mom had remarried and moved to texas years and years ago. We decided to give it a shot and move there. There was a job opportunity in their business and it all seemed too good to be true. Warm weather, good money (even though we already made good money), we could work together.. So we made the plunge, sold the house, sold our trucks, sold the civics. Hooked up our travel trailer (kept one tow vehicle) and off we went, hit some cool sights along the way.

Fast forward a couple of months. Things weren't what they seemed, job was crap, work/life balance was crap, bad environment. Things kinda fell apart. I wont get into the personals of it all but we were pretty much at a start over point in life. No jobs, *technically* no home state. Pretty much down for whatever. So, we got our CDL's and drive a semi as a team now. We are on the road pretty much indefinitely. We can go "home" if we want. But unless there is something going on we really don't care to. Or if Ryan needs help with his civic (hopefully he'll post on here also)

So, in conclusion, I'm not up to much. I still have my frs, in storage, under a car cover, awaiting its time that may never come. lol. Don't have any immediate plans.

So how about everyone else. How many old members are still lurking in the shadows? New people are cool too, not a clue how you guys are finding parts for probes still, it was a struggle years ago.

I wouldn't mind posting some past pics of projects but who the hell even offers free image hosting anymore? I haven't posted a pic on a forum in what seems to be forever ago.

EDIT:: On a side note, did the ProbeTalk.com tower ever get finished!?

Talk about a blast from the past!
I believe that the last time I was really active on the boards was god. 6, maybe 7 years ago when I first picked up my Lincoln LS. Which I didn’t do anything with except maintain it until I started having multiple system failures in abs and the traction control systems.

Hate to say it but after I sold the MX6 and had so many issue with the MX3 I not only lost my interest in cars, I completely dropped out of any car scene.

Life has definitely been happening for me, 4 Years ago I got married, our engagement was quite a long one S we have been together 10 years this year. A few months after we were married we bought our house, and two months after that we of course got a dog, to me that sounded like the logical next step.

Fast forward two years and my son was born, cutest little rugrat I’ve seen in my life!

Somewhat recently I have reaquired my love for cars, I acquired my civic from Josh which sat for nearly a year untouched. Starting this past spring the work on it began. I am now the owner of a clean 98 civic hatch with a swapped B18B-T pushing 13psi at the moment, Street tuned by yours truly with assistance from josh of course. Before dropping to motor in I pretty much completely shaved the engine bay and resprayed it in my driveway, which much to my surprise came out really damn good, Doublely so seeing as I had never picked up a spray gun before. It is also wire tucked all in all I am extremely impressed with how it has turned out.

Outside of that nothing much to report other than waiting for josh to get his bitch ass in gear so I can help him with that FRS.

I would like to give a big hello to all the old member still hanging around.

I was off here for awhile as well. Still have a PGT and about to be looking for another one for a better start to restore. I think I will have one around for some time. Have had one around since I was 16 and I'm 33 now. The car was put on hold for a bit once I get married and had kids. The probe seems to be a little more appealing since they are becoming rare. My step daughter and her friends around 18 are like what kind of car is that? Hope to find one again to get started on this winter and hope to be driving one around on the weekends next summer. So I'll be on the board for a good while, hope to see it keep going!

Wow your story is scary close to my own. 29 in 2 weeks. Married back in March to my gf of 11 years.

Bought a house, got a dog. Both work great jobs pulling in great money. Just don't have time for much. Built a garage so at least the probe is inside. Maybe this summer I'll get the urge to resume my build.

Bought a house, graduated from graduate school, and married almost 11 years.

Still have the Probe and started working on getting her reliable. I want the Probe to drive out to All Fords Nationals in Carlisle, PA next year, even with the "uglyish" paint.

Wish I still had PGT #1 (see sig). #2 and #3 sold at least a decade ago, #1 sold in 2013, biggest regret. Other than working (15 years now at the current employer, a law firm), spending time with my son, enjoying the 2015 Dodge Charger SXT Rallye (down to one car now), not much going on. I turned 70 this past June but most people are surprised I am that old (me included). Where did the time go? Glad that Damon and Stacey are still keeping PT going! Wish more BAPOC members would want to get together for another summit!

Just searched G and found this gem on cargurus - 5 speed 38K miles (dealer). I could buy it now but sold my MTX cars because of a torn tendon in my clutch foot (though I could still drive it on weekends). If anyone is in the PNW area, jump on it!

Stalled on Blue Probe Restoration. Stalled on Black Probe Restoration. Seems to be a pattern. Life tends to kick you in the arse and keep you away from your fun. And it seems that the older you get -the more things pop up to keep you away.

Found some people's dream job -work from home $30 per hour -but to me -not my cup of tea. Not given enough work to keep me busy-which drives me crazy. So job searching once again!

Started storing up parts for yet another project -that will likely get put on hold along with the others. Spitfire is collecting parts.

Black car is 95% done -but every time I think I am going to have a day to finish the last 5% -wife needs me to drive her somewhere -or groceries need to be bought.

A while back she decided that she wanted to buy us a manual shift Mazda 3 and vowed to learn to drive it. She has given up trying and now wants me to be her taxi driver to everywhere. She will not even attempt to learn it. She claims she is afraid of "roll back" on inclines.

So now if I want my time back -it seems that I have to find a comparable auto trans trade for the manual shift before it will happen. Like I said -life seems to kick you in the arse!

not all that much going on:

started a new job in may, albeit part-time. it was supposed to be a management position, but the person i "manage" still seems to think i work for her, although it has been explained to her [repeatedly] that it's the other way around. feel like i'm wasting my time here.

still have my probe, but that's been awaiting a transplanted steering rack for the last 2 years. i miss driving it, so i really should stop being lazy about it. i've had the replacement part sitting in the garage for the last year.

still have my cobra. it's still an awesome car to drive, but it's starting to show it's age a little bit. i need to replace both seat covers and the seat bun on the driver's side. luckily, i can order replacements from TMI, but that's nearly the same cost as swapping them out for a set of racing seats. at least i finally got the Cobra R brembos installed! now, i have to replace the rear shocks [already replaced the front struts earlier in 2017]. debating on a CF hood or just repainting the stocker.

stacey and i are still zoom-zooming along. it's been 18 years since we first met and it's been a really awesome journey with her. wouldn't have missed it for anything.
ProbeTalk is BACK! Once again, it's what you use the Internet for!

                        Let's get DANGEROUS!

3+ years now with new GF and treating it like a marriage practically. It’s a nice thought to one day tie the knot and call her my wife but we both have similar understanding that it could mess up a good thing. We share everything regardless and bought a new house 1.5 years ago and stuffed a Factory Five 818s in the garage. Succeeded to Move my mom out of
Calif 2 weeks ago and into my same neighborhood and now people are asking why I brought her so close? Cost of living, quiet area for her to retire, less Vultures, my turn to watch over her.

No updates on the Tracer build since the last pics I posted, under a cover in the driveway but I did receive mfactory gears and Lsd. Work for same company for 2+ years now wrenching on Hyundai’s though I’ve transferred 2 times due to not fitting in(didn’t socialize). During same period I hurt my lower back and got the best chiro treatment. I believe my back issue started with my first supercharged probe having to rebuild the kit so many times.

Won’t own another probe for psychological reason(last one almost killed both of us). Maybe the probes were angry at me for the things I did to them? I still have the Accent in my sig and finally ordered a FPR so I could tune it. Supposed to be my daily at some point to prove to me I can still build reliable junk. The lady will probably never ride in it and that’s fine. She wants a classic Lotus, partially my fault and so the hunt insues. Always was my dream car but recently found out I don’t fit in it I’m 6’1” thanks to my dad i only fit in the later v8 models and that’s way Over budget.

We’ve gone to the past 4 Sema shows and kept up with what the tuner world is up to as I haven’t gone to a car meet in years. Basically found out if you put a LS in a FD then you are cool. Been watching the classic car market for some time now and waiting for WW4 to start and create the next economy collapse so I can afford something cool. Midlife is setting in and lots of joints hurt. Driving the 818 is hard on my right knee, the shifter is super tight/short throw and makes the wrist hurt so my driving habits have mellowed out and I would love to learn to power slide around corners .
