there is a vendor on ebay called Canuck MotorSports, they are based out of surrey, bc and i know one of the BCPOC members has them on his probe and it dropped ~1inch. Really good value too, only about $150 CDN for them

i'd reccomend the tokico's (illumina's if you have the money) and eibach springs. seems to be the best combo (i have it on my car and love it). unless you wanted to go with a more expencive coilover setup... which would be pretty sweet, tein is coming out with a set for the probe, should be pretty nice. It's not to hard, you just need a spring compressor. And i'd reccomend putting on new dust boots, and checking out the bearings and junk oncce they are off.

If you have access to an air gun, that will make things run ALOT smoother... It was required for me to take the top nut off of the strut/spring assembly...

            try checking here for instructions...

I know their are really good instructions somewhere, i just can't find them... sorry i used them when i did mine, and it had everything down to torque specks.

Not very hard, u just need a spring compressor, a little patience, and some muscle to get off some of the bolts down there.
              Good luck!

do you have a manual? if so, that should be good enough. if you have a comp. at your house. if you run into any problems, just post on here, or pm me, and I should be able to help you out. Good luck, just have a little patience, should be able to complete it in under 6 hrs.(and that is a overstatement, took me 5 on my first go, and that was with never doing struts before...)

Here I'll be nice and do a full write up here, sinc I wish I would have had one for when I did mine.

                    1. Disconnect strut from the control arm/caliper.
                    2. Remove strut mount in top of wheelwell.
                    3. Now the whole strut should come out.

to put it back on with new springs
                    1. Compress spring with spring compressor.
                    2. put spring on over strut, with compressors still on.
                    3. Set strut mount on top of spring and tighten down.
Now you can remove the compressor from the spring, and the strut mount plate should hold the spring in. Now you just insert the strut/spring combination up into the wheelwell and tighten up the mount to the wheelwell. Then just take and re-attach the bottom of the strut to the control arm/caliper/whatever and there you go.

Took me 6 hours to do the 1st strut ever, then it took me 30 minutes to do the 2nd one. So if this is your 1st time, depending upon how much rust u have and if everything goes to plan, I would allow 2-4 hours to do it/.

Now for lowering springs and such, I have no clue. But thats the basics for the struts/springs.

And make sure you replace the dust covers. You do not want to have to do this again after you have done it.

anyone have any opinion on kyb?? i dont wanna put any new strust on worth 400 bucks and not notice much of a diff so how good are the tokicos really? my goal is to get a SMOOTHER SOFTER ride as the roads here are terrible and i bounce around like crazy. does that mean getting aftermarket struts is a bad idea?

The KYBs are what I would consider a "stock replacement" meaning that you should buy them if you are using stock springs and are not trying to get every bit of handling ability possible out of those stock springs (like you might do for certain classes of SCCA)

I would always recommend one of the versions of the Tokico struts for any lowering springs (espcially for the more performance oriented ones, like the Eibachs) or if you are looking to get the best performance out of your stock springs. The Tokicos are more performance oriented, IMO, and I've heard alot of people who had problems with the KYBs and lowering springs... either they weren't effective at dampening (bouncy ride) or they blew out prematurely.

As for the best spring/strut combo, for a daily driver, I'd recommend the Tokico blue struts, and either the Eibach or Tokico lowering springs. Both give a decent drop (I think they both advertise a 1.2" drop) and are stiff enough for good handling, but still do a fair job of dealing with small to moderate bumps.

I personally run Tokico springs and blue struts, with escort front strut mounts, and AWR 19mm RASB and a rear STB. This combination looks good, rides ok, and handles GREAT. I was able to stomp a friends GSX so badly around the corners that he couldn't even catch up on the straightaways (No offense if you read this!! ) The handling difference after just the springs and struts was very noticable, as was the high speed stability, and no, my OE struts were not blown (they only had about 65k miles on them)

If you are looking for the max drop, I'd go with blues with cut lower spring perches and coilovers (choose your brand) and a set of escort front strut mounts. this is probably not the best handling choice (or the best riding) but it will give you the greatest drop.

When I did my Eibach springs I didnt need a compressor for the rear springs. Also, I thought I would point out, for the front springs, compress the stock spring on the strut BEFORE to try to remove the large bolt from the middle of the strut mount. If you don't, the spring has enough tension to blow off the strut and injure you.

But other than that its a piece of cake. Did all four corners on mine in a little over and hour.

A little over an hour!?!?... dang, i must be slow, of well, I took my time I diddn't know what i was doing...

The tokico and eibach WON'T give you a smoother softer ride... they are performance oreinetaed, so you will have a stifer suspension (hence feeling every bump). I don't know what i'd reccomend if you are going for a softer ride. maybe just oem struts?

And yea, Tokico reccomends not installing their struts if you have bad roads.
