I really don't think contacting him would do any good. Anyone can see how dangerous that setup would be left as-is and yet it was still sold to the public.

So you're more then happy to bitch about what you think is horrible workmanship but, you won't contact the fabricator directly and you expect his products to get better?
I would contact him directly. He would appreciate the feedback, I know I would! He does basically work out of a small shop and does it all himself. Sometimes guys like that do what they can. I've definitely seen worse but, could use some improvement. Although from the pics seems like some of the welds look ok but, hard to tell without seeing it in person or testing it with a shop press.
Get a hold of him and talk to him about what you found man.

I think you should talk to him. Especially since its a second hand part, you dont know the history behind it.

He is one of the few people around, who make anything for the cars, and he even does it relativley cheap. Not beeing a proffesional, and working out from a small shop im guessing the parts are only as good as what he can teach himself.

If you send him a mail or something, and tell him what you posted here, im pretty sure he will take it for lesson and grow on it, and that is good both for us, and for him. There is little doubt that the craftmanship could be done alot better, and there might be reasons behind it, or it could be mistakes. Nobody will really know before someone talk to him.

I dont think he deserves to much pointing fingers, when he offers something that only an enthusiast would want, and make.

I was fond of his rear endlinks I bought about a year ago, but I have seen several other concerns through the years.

I think it is a time issue, where proper time, measurement and quality is not going into the parts. I've seen some of his projects and damn he does good work.
            I think it's an obsession!

No complaints with my mounts and other things i've purchased for the money. Are they pretty AWR-quality welds? No. Do i trust them to hold in this case? Yes.

If you gonna complain about a product and critique it down to the quality of the welds, be prepared to build your own products like he has.

                  LMAO.

Where is he at to defend his work?

Critiquing "down" to quality of welds is pretty basic. That's not critiquing at all. That's a basic item on something like this.

No no...you have that all wrong. If you want to bring a product to the market and call it quality and charge for it, a consumer has every right to judge and critique it. I am sure that every complaint you have had about a product has inspired you to go out and create one of your own so it can be of higher quality. You must have at least 100 one of products you have created as a result of complaining right?

Actually, I have made my own stuff. I didn't like the short throw shifter because the knob was sitting too low for my driving style so I cut the bottom portion of the stock mx3 shifter and welded a 626/probe end on it and the shifts weren't as hard.

I didn't like the 626 sway bar and links so I figured out that I can make a CSVT rear sway bar work with 2G RX7 endlinks.

I didn't care for the movement of the stock PGT/626 mounts so I adapted and stiffened the stock 2002 626 passenger front engine mount. While I was at it, I filled the other 3 with polyurethane roof flashing.

I found out that the stock trans subframe flexes under partial load. It gets even worse if you decide to floor it so I made a bracket that concentrates on stiffening the frame and making it less flexible.

I discovered that the '98+ 626 control arms have (slightly) stiffer bushings and has an extra bolt hole (by the big bushing) which somehow makes the front end tighter.

I didn't like the diameter of the midpipe for the Ebay headers so I opened it up from 1.75 to 2.25 OD and gained 6 whp and 3ft lbs wtq off of parts I cut off from the junkyard.

Just because you don't know me doesn't mean that I haven't done anything out of the ordinary. Instead of complaining about a product, I'll do my research on it. If it meets 1/2 my needs within a reasonable price, I'll modify it to make it work for me. I have a welder and all.

Bear in mind i'm not defending those brackets, they ARE pretty wretched.

BUT, complaining to everyone BUT the person who made them doesn't make much sense or get anyone anywhere.

Yes, but in the second you put a price on it and sell it, you need to deliver what you promise.

i don't know why a year old thread was revived, but i just wanted to point out these two things.

now, i am not offering an opinion either way. what i am saying is that both of these sentences exhibit points that are valid and should be expected whenever you are purchasing something.
