  • Acquired a FREE ZE

Okay, so my Probe has been out of commission for a good while now due to serious overheating. The gaskets might have been the starting point but I think the heads were done for.

Anyways, after my car broke down my sisters boyfriend bought a curve neck ZE to install into his SE. Long story short, he lost interest in it and decided to give me the engine.

So what this means is that i'm going to need some helpful SoCal hands to get my probe back on the streets. I was having serious Probe withdraws and it didn't help that I was driving a Prius

Sadly is not a high compression motor and doesn't have Ze cams. The heads are the best part of it. Good luck with it, too bad I'm not in so cal anymore.
it's not the fall that hurts, its the sudden stop at the bottom

he may not have a tree handy where he lives. plus, this isn't the first engine swap he's done. i'm pretty sure he's got a lift. if not, my brother does and he's not too far away

I'm actually going to get a cherry picker soon here and the probe is going to be in Pomona. I bought a house down here.

He asked because it seems like you've seen the motor he got and inspected it.

So I was finally able to get the engine over to my house:

Now to do some maintenance and cleaning it up. Lets see if I don't mess up the timing.

because i asked and also because you appeared to have detailed knowledge of this specific engine, but the most important reason is because i asked.

eric. with that curved neck manifold, i would definitely check the casting numbers on both the heads AND the cams to ensure that this is a bona fide KLZE.

i've noticed that the valve cover has the raised lettering on the top and bottom sections. i want to say this came from a millenia with the "hybrid" motor [DE block - ZE heads w/o ZE cams]. both the IM and VC are near dead giveaways, but you'd have to check the castings to be sure.

good to see your brother helping you out.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say it's a millenia motor, which as long as it's clean who cares what it looks like, free motor.
