Turbo boost gage

Does anybody know if the turbo boost gage on first generation GT's is an actual pressure gage, or is just run by the ECU? I'm asking this because I suspect I might have a crack, but the PSI indicator shows normal pressure.

The guage is highly inaccurate from what I've been told. I think it shows an estimate of boost rather than an actual pressure reading. Hope this helps ya out.

it works off pressure from factory boost controller.

Thanks for the info. So then I can assume that whatever the guage reads is the actual pressure in the turbo, right? That is, if the controller is not shot, which I don't think.
