  • How to make 300+ hp out of a f2t

First off, I know everyone's wondering my setup, so here it is.
I'm using the stock 330s that my motor came with, aeromotive fpr, Matt's Holley fmu, msd 6a, magnecor 8.5mm wires, JE forged pistons, Pauter chrome-moly rods, Colt cam regrind, garret t3 .60/.63 from an 86 Turbo coupe, Greddy Profec B controlling boost levels, NX wet kit (50 shot), walbro 255HP fuel pump, Jay b. reprogrammed chip, Port and polished head, ported intake manifold, custom exhaust manifold, Deltagate external wastegate, 3" mandrel bent exhaust as much as possible, 2.5" mandrel bent IC piping where possible, bottle necked to 1 7/8" at the Starion FMIC. I have a phantom grip 905 with race springs installed for traction, I still have to replace the 5th gear shift fork, cuz it pops out of gear on me. I have have amsoil full synthetic gear lube in my tranny, and I'm finally running Mobil 1 supersynthetic oil in the motor. I have almost 3k miles on my motor. I have Ground control coil-overs with tokico Illumina 5-ways struts in the front. I have a pacesetter sts to speed up my shifts. I still have my air conditioning, power steering, power windows, and automatic seatbelts. I have removed all sound deadening, padding, rear seats and brackets, front and rear bumper supports. Last time I weighed the car with spare tire, jack, toolbox, and some misc stuff it weighed in at 2780lbs. Without the crap I'm probably sitting at 2700lbs or so, will find out someday. haha

People will have to spend quite a bit of $$ to get my setup, or be able beat mine. I know I haven't gotten my best time and I know there is still more power in this car. I have my motor built to handle a 100 shot if I ever get that daring, but for now I'm very happy with my 50 shot. Nitrous is the way to go for this car. You have to get the fuel pressure up on the rail to get the power out of the injectors. I'm only running about 70psi with just boost and 80 psi with the juice.

i really wish this whole 440 business never got started... the stock 330 injectors are plenty of fuel, especially with nitrous as well... eric even dynoed rich. 330's are plenty of fuel... get a good walbro and your set...

and eric, once again, congrats... i cant say it enough

and how much money did you dump into your $2k-ish car in order to be that $80,000 viper?

Go for a bigger shot, man. I think one of the older members, Wayman I believe, used a 75-100 shot on his MX6 GT and dynoed something insane like 360hp and some crazy torque number close to 400 or more.

His block wasn't even built either, to my knowledge. I don't recall a timeslip ever from the juice, so I'd really be interested to see what more N20 can do. Good work.

I paid 1350 or so for the car 4 years ago. I'm probably in the $10k range with everything from, getting hosed by rawpower with the last motor and anything that needed fixing or replaced, down to all the sets of tires I've gone through. Probably also including the stereo that I have in the 89pgt now. I'm not positive but I'm sure it's in that range.

Andy from Tennessee had like 340hp or so with a t3/t4 before he went FE3 route, and now has 400+. Tempting, but I'm sure he had a t3/t4 turbo which could make more power. I probably won't be getting on the dyno again til I change something. For now I'm going to try to get the car under a mid 12 with what I have set up. I only have one 1/4 mile weekend left and one 1/8th mile weekend this weekend if I go home. I'm just about out of time.

You also need to have a reprogrammed chip, cuz the stock chip runs you lean, and limits how much boost you can run. haha

There's racing this weekend and the weekend of the 27th up here in Winnipeg if you guys want to make the drive. It'd be great to see some fast Probes here.
