  • 19" staggerd on stock suspension?

is it possible, or has anyone done 19" wheels staggered on stock suspension? specifically 19x8 or 8.5 front and 19x9.5 rear. I've searched but cant find a definitive answer

Probably not on this forum. Especially with your "specifically" scenario.

'stagger' is usually a difference in tire dia. from L to R. normally used by circle trackers.

it sounds like you're putting wider tread tires ( but same diameter ) on the rear of the car, to which i can only say .... WHY?

something like 65%-70% of the weight of the car is over the front tires. when you've got the same size tire all the way around you ALREADY HAVE TOO MUCH RUBBER ON THE REAR.

it's the same principle as there being no point in upgrading the rear disc brakes: you don't have enough weight on the rear tires to bother with better braking. you're probably already going to be sliding the inside rear tire ( due to too much brake and not enough weight ) in a fast corner as it is.

Bob, without getting to long winded, this is simply a cosmetic set up. I do not race this car, it is not a performance mod, it's for looks. I like the staggered set up on certain vehicles. My G37 is staggered, My Lexus GS is staggered, I've seen a couple Probes set up this way, even 1 on 19's but I cant find it, and I would like to set my newest Probe up this way. OK with you?

you can do anything you want but you're using performance terminology.

i'm just pointing out not to expect any performance benefit.

if all you're looking for is for the rear wheels to be visually wider than the front, this could be accomplished by using spacers and longer lugs in the rear. that way you could still keep the wheels and rubber the same all the way around the car.

or, you could get wheels with a different offset than what you're using on the front.

if you want taller tires on the rear ( put rake in the car ), you'd just get different profile tires ( say, 65s on the front and 70s on the rear ) rather than messing with the wheels.

It all depends on your offsets. Mine has a 17x8.5 et45 all around and they just about hit the strut. Tires are 225-45-17. I think Shaun runs 18x9.5" et15, but runs something crazy like a 195-40-18 stretched to fit

You can't, not with stock suspention..
I run 20x9J +20 with 245/30 tyres (small stretch) all around, and i am on K-sport (air) coilovers and there is about 5mm space between rim and coilover.

                  yes, you can.

that's what we're talking about with spacers and wheel offsets. if you space the stock wheel out far enough or get aftermarket wheels with more offset, you have to worry about the tire rubbing on the wheel well, not the strut.

there's no need to change anything on the 'suspension' except knocking the OEM lugs out of the rotor and putting long ones in if you use a spacer plate.

I had 18 by eights on my second gen, at one point. I had half inch spacers in front and rear. Just about flush wit fenders. I don't not remember rim offset. And had plenty room between rim and springs. 19s will fit but u may need spacers to play it safe in the front if going wider the 8s in the front. With the eighteens on stock suspension, sometimes I did encounter tire to fender contact but only on up down movement, bumps potholes. Not sure how 19s will do with turnig and up down movement.

IMO, I wound not run longer studs, you keeping the same stud just making it longer. Weaker over distant.
I would go with hub centric bolt on spacers. I am currently running 1" 1/2 bolt on and they are awesome. No worry about out of roundness like most of lay on spacers.
They bolt on using stock acorns and give you five new studs

                        With coilovers it's possible.
