  • I did an engine swap with a 1996 Mazda MX6 engine into my 1993 Ford Probe GT

After mechanically hooking up the 1996 Mazda MX6 2.5 liter DOHC engine into my 1993 Ford Probe GT I am having problems with the electrical. I spoke to someone at Ford and they said that the parameters are setup differently for the electrical on the two engines but were unable to let me know if the settings where so different that engine could be run or not. Please let me know if I just need to put the old distributor in or if I need a 1996 ECU or lastly if I need to put all the old electrical on the new engine. Thanks

I would use both of your origional wiring, or at least as much as you could. I think most of your problem is going to be that a 1996 engine is ODBII and your 1993 is ODBI. That means lots of different sensors. I have been having MAD troubles w/ my ZE swap. I'll try and help you out any way I can. Later, Matt
