  • 96 PGT Replacing ATX ECU with MTX ECU after swap. Do I need the PCM too?

    Im gonna buy a 96pgt MTX ECU, and i know that some model years the ECU and PCM were integrated, is this the same for 96, or are they seperate units? If they are seperate, which one oueld i need to buy, or would i need both?

    '96 and '97 had one ECU for the engine and atx. '93-'95 had a seperate ECU and TCM.

      OK, thanks. One more question. Is what some people refer to as the ECU the same as what others refer to as the PCM. I want to make sure i swap out everything ATX related so my car is running perfect. Right now I have about 5 CEL codes that keep popping up randomly, all related to the swap

        PCM and ECU are the say thing. Just different terms to discribe it
        PCM= Powertrain Control Module
        ECU= Engine Control Module
        TCM= Transmission Control Module (of course, OBD ATX only)
