      I havent driven it at 80, but should be about 3.5K
      93 PGT Kitted and all -sold,
      Current 93 PGT-ZE-T So far: 12" brakes, ZE, T3/T4 turbo, 2.5" exhaust , ACT 6-puck, MSD6AL+2step, Coilovers, 245/45/17x9 cobra r, 67mm TB, MS II, traction bars, meth inj. and more.

        If I remember correctly I was about 3400 with the n/a 1g 5th gear, and I think the ratios are the same if not only a little different..

          can you post more details please?


          I see the transmission is in the car? so we disconnect the shift linkage? leave it on? lock 5th gear? leave it loose? The 5th gear box is that outer shell the transmission has right?

          any more detailed pics? This is defenetly MY NEXT MOD... I hate my short gear... I wonder what we can do to make it stronger to hold boost


          Also so we got part numbers for the locks, do you have the part numbers for the gears? will junk yards let you cut open a perfectly good transmission to pull out the 5th gears? How much did you pay for them?

            Well to make the gears stronger for boost our only option seems to be par gears. But you shouldn't be boosting in 5th anyway

                  The gears cost me $7.50 at pull a part junk yard.
                  Two reasons not to boost in 5th, 1) extended load on the stock boosed engine might resualt in the rod fail due to detonation. built engine would solve that problem. 2) 5th gear is smaller and weaker then reast of the gears, PAR gears might solve that problem.

                    okay, this is great, i was planning on doing my 5th gear tomorrow, since it went out, so i need to go to j/y and get one in the morning. I just need to confirm, which 5th should i look for? Taurus 5th? 2nd Gen PSE 5th... or First gen 2.2 5th?

                      not sure about the taurus, but add escort to the list, the end of the tranny will look like our's, thats how you know lol.
                      Most of the Junk Yards will make you buy whole trans, but junk yards like pull a part dont give a sh*t about anything, I mean any turbo/supercharger is $16.50 on their parts list LOL

                        Our local Pull-A-Part won't let me take apart the tranny's but it's only $100 for the whole thing.

                        Any 2g PSE will work, 4cyl 2g 626 or MX-6, Some Escorts, I've even heard (not verified) that some Feiesta's will work and have an extreamly tall .61 or so 5th.

                            okay, im my other post, i was talking about the the Escort, not taurus :-p. So i went to J/y and got a 5th assembly from a 93 escort. $12 + all kinds of stupid charges this j/y has.. went to buddies house... gears different/didnt work. BUT while having my 5th gear set off i think we found the problem. that piece thats sits on the shift fork, has teeth on the inside where the syncro's grab, and on the reverse side, looks fine.. on the 5th gear side the teeth are all FUBAR'd. So im guessing thats why 5th will enguage and stay in for light (i mean really light) throttle... but anything "Normal" will kick it instantly out.

                            So im trying to find out exactly what years and cars to look for;
                            I know of:
                            93-97 PGT and SE's
                            93-97 MX6
                            2.2 NA first gen

                            what year escorts and other cars should i keep an eye out at the j/y for? and what motor size, cause the 5th i got was from a 4cyl Escort with a 1.9l in it.

                                will a 1st gen GT turbo 2.2l 5th gear fit also?????? because i want to boost 5th on highway races
                                black 94 probe gt-on 5lbs boost - t3/t4 50trim dynoed at 210hp & 194 tq on fmu
