It is a known fact that the fs02 motor makes minimal gains with basic bolt-ons. This inspired me to create an Archive for improving a very important role player in the FS engine…the head. This archive is mainly a database containing information about upgrading head components, head swaps, and dyi headwork.
I am not completely done with it, and may have a few errors here and there(its 3am gimme a break ) Any info you would like to add/correct, please pm me.
Head swaps
Currently only fsze and fsde heads can be swapped onto our blocks. The problem here is that the heads are almost the same. The only reason why I could see you swapping the head is because the FSDE has the advantage of using solid lifters. Also you would have to put a hole into the head for the stock distributor.
No Honda heads have been swapped onto the FS block.

Head Component upgrades

The stock cams on the FS motor are bit on the conservative side. A lot of power can be made by upgrading these cams.
Please keep in mind that there is no BEST cam for the probe. It depends on your application goals. Certain cams may require additional upgrades to the head such as valve springs and lifters.
-J-spec Intake cam off FSZE motor
Pros: Mildly aggressive intake cam with gains seen as high as 10whp, as well as raising the powerband up ~400rpms. Has shown improvement among boosted applications as well.
Cons: Loss of torque, rough idle. Can only use the intake cam due to the fact that the exhaust cam lacks a distributor gear

Pros: Custom cams tailored for any specific application. Very cost efficient when compared to the J-spec cam.
Cons: Process requires you to send in your stock cams. More dyno research needs to be done in order to maximize gains.

Adjustible Cam Gears:
Cam timing is what controls the opening and closing of valves.
Adjustible Cam Gears will allow you to change your cam timing. This in return sets the placement of the Power/Torque curves. Adj Cam Gears should be tuned on the dyno for best results...otherwise they may hurt performance.
