hesitation at 2500 rpm, help

1996 probe 85k miles. When i rave my car to about 2500 rpm, it hesitates and start jaking back and forth. The check engine light is on. I have no idea where to start, please help.

Best thing to do is pull your cel codes... Thats what that light is for. That will tell you where the problem is.

If you don't get any codes, suspect wires, especially if you don't get the hesitation when the engine is not fully warmed up.
