1989 Probe GT barn find rebuild

Whiteline LCA bushings and moog ball joints are all pressed in, have to adjust one of the bushings and tack the ball joints in for some added security.

Once thats done I can bolt them back up and get the front brakes all done.

Fitted a mach 1 spoiler to the bumper, more of a pain than anticipated, looks decent.


Also grabbed these from a local guy for CHEAP! Forged, 2piece welded, they weigh 13lbs each, will be used for an autox only setup.

Front End is entirely back together, will have to check for lca to rotor clearance at some point. but for now its mobile again.

Things done:

Moog balljoints, tacked for security
Moog Outer tie rods
Whiteline LCA bushings
Energy suspension poly Endlinks
Wilwood brake kit
Stainless brake hoses

Also Began trying to reorganize the wiring situation under the dash. Installed my EVC in the radio pocket, Used a junction box to consolidate all the grounds for the the gauges, turbo timer, evc. Will need to fish the vacuum hose through the firewall next of the boost gauge. Also decided to use the pyrometer that I have just to be safe, anyone know it I can weld a bung in the 02 housing for this or is it necessary to have the pyro probe in the exhaust manifold?

According to the auto meter installation manual, it can be located 1-2" from the turbo exhaust outlet. So i assume that would be the o2 housing?

Thanks! Finally finished up the wiring, everything is loomed and tucked and fully functioning. Just need to install the weld bung for the wire band and install the probe fitting for the pyro.

Made some more progress this weekend.

New master cylinder has been installed, took the rear calipers apart, seem ok, greased the slides, installed kvr pads, swapped over the cleaned up drilled discs from the parts car and installed the good ridge rear lines.

Also painted the new gas tank so that is ready for install.

I'll try to bleed the brake system this week and paint the rear calipers. The rear arms come out next so i can torch the bushings out and install the whitelines. I'll probably try to refresh those as well with some of the eastwood chassis paint i used on the tank.

Also got my new 5 point harness in from racequip so i'm now all up to date on safety. I ended up ordering an autopower roll bar as well and that should be due in the next couple weeks. Car is almost there!

More battles were waged this weekend.

Rear arms were a pita, through bolt on the spindle was frozen, surprise.





Anyways rear arms and poly are in. Poly sway bushings and end links . Mazda LTB painted and installed. New fuel tank installed. Extend studs and 5mm spacers to clear the awr trailing arms also done.





Bleed the brakes, and was able drive her out and drive it up and down the driveway for the first time!

Thanks bud, here's a teaser. Run's a hell of a lot better with the new fuel tank in and some fresh gas. Gonna add in either a resonator or high flow cat off the parts cars crap exhaust to kill some of the rasp.
