Silver Caps on KYB struts

Two KYB GR2 struts, just delivered from Rock Auto. Part # 235603. Any thoughts why identical part numbers, one has the silver cap and the other doesn't? I have a set of Stagg struts, and they look identical to the capless strut.
Also, the capless one rebounds at a very leisurely pace. As you can see it is fairly compressed and came that way out of the box.

Can you return them, or have them exchange for 2 different ones?

I guess, form factor wise they are very similar. The one that rebounds slowly dampens in both directions, so I am not too worried about that.

I am mostly curious about the cap. I have a set of fronts 235601 and 235602, and they have it as well.

I'm not concerned with the looks of the struts, more the damping. Can you say they will operate the same when on the car? Did the box look like it was taped a second time, like it was returned by someone else? Maybe talk to Rock Auto about it, see if it's a common problem, see what they think you should do. Not necessarily that you have to return them just that it's odd, and if you mount them you probably can't return if one side wallows around. If they say yeah we've had a few complaints but they work fine, or they might want you to return them to keep you the customer happy and safe.

The other 3 rebound decent. I can return it. I've already returned them once. I have 30 days from receipt. I sent an email to kyb tech support as well.

Rock Auto says they are fine. KYB technical support said, it should extend fully on it's own.

That settles it.

your not supposed to be able to press them down by hand but like once or twice then it is hard to press so if you can they are not that good and should be returned..

KYB recommend charging it 4 times in succession and see what happens. It returns now, but slowly. According to their tech support this is acceptable. They were cheap, so I am going to run with them.
