I was too. I knew I was going to give it another shot it was just a matter of when Lol. I usually don't start working on something unless I have all the parts ready to go and put on. I have everything I need now to put the rear suspension back on so once cleaned and painted the car will be back on the ground.

It was an amazing feeling and with the more parts coming in its getting me excited all over again and then I remember that I still have Alot of money, work and parts to go 😑.

In the end I know I'll be happy that all my hard work paid off.

      • So I call delta about a cam regrind and low and behold they can't do it because the lifters are not adjustable *sigh*. Isn't the 98+ 626 lifters adjustable? I would really like the cams now especially since I've bought the springs.

I also cracked the damn head trying to get the cam gear off so now I have to see about getting that fixed. Lovely.

        • Decided to just go with colt cams since they already know what they are doing when it comes to this motor.

Went back at it again and got the cam gears off after a little heat.

A picture of the part of the head I cracked.

Pictures for future reference when I put it back together.

Cams are out and ready to be shipped off when I package them.

Turned all the bolts at 1/4 increments and in the torque sequence like the manual says. Will finish pulling the heads tomorrow to be sent to the machine shop when I get my cams back and valve springs.

I think I did. I mentioned I could possibly change the lifters to adjustable ones and he started talking about how the shims would be too much to compensate.

I called twice about it and left it alone at that.

Edit: I've searched and can't find an answer. The motor I'm tearing down is from a 96, how do I go about making it work in my 94?

              • Pretty sure there are just a couple sensors you'll have to change out... the distributor at least. As for cams, you should look up Kirkham Deckland on Facebook. He's out of Australia and seems to be making pretty ridiculous power on stock IM motors with some huge cams that he gets made.

Ken is wrong about every time I have ever talked to him or any time anyone I know has talked to him lol. Jon is the guy you ask for when you call. Delta has done all of my cams from my 1g, 2g my scoobys some of my vw's. If i'm getting a regrind there the place I go with.

I figured the dizzy but I was wondering if I would have to rewire the pigtails and what not. I'll look into them and call about the cams.

Lol OK I'll call and ask for Jon then ask again. Thanks for the heads up.

Now if I can find a custom exhaust shop that will make me an exhaust for a single to dual exit then I'll be golden lol

Also I've been all up and down the transmission thread and I can get straight cut gears from mfactory but that's only rated at 350whp and its only 3rd-5th.

What if I got the 99+ Escort gears with mfactory rebuild kit and lsd? Think that would hold to my 450whp goals?

Oh no I already looked. It's $5500-$8000!!! I'm not full on racing this car just a street/strip type. That's why I asked about the mfactory gears or the Escort gears.

The thought of drilling out a bolt makes me cringe now.
I've had good luck with this truck too if there is enough bolt to weld something on to

                          • Performance springs from Australia showed up.

                            Vibrant cat converter

Bought 2 1320 blast pipes for my exhaust setup. One got here this week and the other next week.

                            Cxracing Turbo manifold.

Took detailed pictures for anybody interested. Headers bolted up just fine as well. I'm no welder but the welds looks good to me. Maybe yall can judge it.

My resonator got here today as well. More parts taken off the future mods list and closer to finally owning my first Turbo car.
