  • Dyno Run Results Database

This thread is dedicated to roughly answer the question, "How much power does my car make?" Many people post up asking, "How much power does such and such mod make?" or "I have done [these mods] how much hp does my car make?"

Before you start posting it would be good to know what modifications you have on your car and other details of your car as follows:

    -Year (e.g. 1995)
-Make and Model (e.g. Ford Probe GT)
    -Transmission (MTX or ATX)
-Mileage on engine (e.g. 59k miles)
-Type of engine (KLDE/03, KLZE, FS03, Hybrid [03 block ZE head], custom, etc.)
-Power mods only (e.g. KLZE, AFPR, fuel pressure settings, CAI, headers [brand included], exhaust [piping size], port and polishing, nitrous [brand and shot], turbo or S/C, chips, stand alone, etc.)
-Other misc parameters (temp and humidity during testing, ignition timing [if known], wheel size, etc)
-Brand of Dynomometer (Mustang or DynoJet usually...Mustang dynos will produce numbers ~10-15% less than a comparable DynoJet Dyno for the same car)
-Elevation of the city where you dyno'd (Data can be found here--> www.city-data.com )

If you have a dyno plot scanned in that would be great. Just link it into the post. Images unfortunately cannot be added inline in this forum. In case your picture goes down, be sure to type in the wheel horse power and wheel torque (wtq=ft-lbs) you got on your dyno so that we know what you got even without the pic. For example, whp=135.5 wtq=133.8

Lastly, do not post up the following:
-guesses as to what you think your car can do on a dyno
    -no G-Tech results
    -no fake dynos
    -no discussion posts
    -no arguements

If you want to discuss a dyno, the poster may add a small dyno explanation, but any further dyno discussion should be done in a separate thread.

The more dyno runs that you can include the better.

-1995 Ford Probe GT MTX 58k miles

Engine: stock '95 PGT KL03 engine/heads/cams, 58k miles, NGK V-power plugs, Magnecor 8.5mm wires, stock ignition, stock FPR

Mods: PRM intake, HotShot TB elbow, KLZE intake manifold (not modified), Outlaw Engineering KL03 phenolic spacers (port matched to the ZE IM on the IM side), 65mm TB, TB phenolic, TB coolant bypass mod, Brospeed Headers, EGR capped, 2.25" test pipe, Borla cat-back, UO UDP, Fidanza FW, mikeseli ZE VRIS ECU

Misc: SBC DXD FF clutch, stock swirlies with Kumho 712 225/50-16, front end alignment seemed a bit off, Mobil 1 Synth engine oil 5w/30, Royal Purple GearMax 75w90 MTX fluid, base timing 6* BTDC

Dyno: DynoJet Dyno 4th gear pull
    Temp ~65*F low humidity

    Results:
    Run #1: whp=160.1 wtq=154.6
    Run #2: whp=159.8 wtq=154.5
    Run #3: whp=160.5 wtq=154.8

    Y-axis stretched and edited version
    http://home.comcast.net/~mmunoz70/z/20031027omaha02.jpg

Discussion: The print out was pretty crappy. The guy at the shop didn't know how to reduce the Y-axis on the graph so it's kinda squished, base timing was figured out later when I finally got around to checking my timing. Also, I don't recommend Royal Purple tranny oil. Very crappy in the winter and worse than Redline MT-90 or even stock tranny oil. I switched to GM Synchromesh later on...wow what a difference

Adjusting the fuel pressure gave major gains on the dyno. About 10HP from the first to last run. The first three runs were in fourth gear, and the the last was in third gear.

              92 MX3 Turbo ($100 junkyard KLG4) 11.904 @ 124.3mph, 14psi, DOT approved Hoosier drags, pump gas.

                            Per Omaha95PGT's request:

'94 PGT MTX, approx. 80K-90K on the clock, full KL-03, Dynojet dyno, stock wheels. Ran on 12/2000, 03/2001, and 06/2001.

150.4 hp/153.3 tq http://www.sunflower.com/~jmshultz/dyno1.jpg - First Dyno: After fixing my VRIS. Mods: 60mm mandrel bent catback, HS intake, UDP, lightened stock flywheel, pheno spacers, ACT2 clutch

http://www.sunflower.com/~jmshultz/dyno2.jpg - Second Dyno: Comparo of before and after fixing the VRIS. When it was broken, the VRIS was closed at all times, and notice I was losing over 25hp and 25 tq in a fat chunk of my midrange...

159.8 hp/159.1 tq http://www.sunflower.com/~jmshultz/dyno3.jpg - Third Dyno: Same as the first dyno, except added Pacesetter headers and got rid of the cat and put a resonator in its place. The I.D. of the resonator was smaller than the catback so I was probably losing a small amount of power on that...

http://www.sunflower.com/~jmshultz/dyno4.jpg - Fourth Dyno: Comparo with dyno 3 where I tied open the VRIS at all times (dyno run on the same day). I actually lost power everywhere!
