I just removed the pulse signal generator it appears to be a little worn. Could this be the reason for the code 55?
I think so, but not sure.

pulse signal generator ... hmmm sounds its a chip or electrical circuit ... how can you tell that its worn out? and what purpose does it do anyways?

It works with the O/D it tells your trans when to shift. once it goes out, the transmission shifts with the vehicle speed sensor.
which will cause trans failure.
and you are right about it being electrical. It is a magnetic sensor with 2 wires coming out of it.
