  • Yet another 323 build. All motor goodness.

Awhile back(last year lol) I started on a S/C build for my mostly stock ZE. Well as most said I would do, I gave up on it. Would have been cool to see a massive M112 on a KL, but there is just something about N/A that keeps me going back, so here is N/A build number 2. A little bit more serious this time.

December 2012, pulled the motor, Got it all stripped down. Then it sat...and sat...and sat...

Did cheap and small things, redid the entire harness, and stock 323 charging harness.

    after

Bought a seat and put it in made rails to fit it.

That was pretty much it for most of 2013. I lost motivation for the most part. Sold the wheels off the car and that was pretty much it. Fast forward to March 2014. I was tired of having a carport ornament. Got to spendin'.

Had a bunch of goodies on the way at the same time. Here's what I working with.

    ZE block
    Clevite bearings
    K1 H beams
    Wiseco 11.5:1 pistons
    Wiseco rings
    ARP head studs
    Jay Racing Phenolic spacers
DE heads full port and port matched (should be dropping off tomorrow)
    Interprep springs
G4 retainers and locks for the intake side
    Interprep 280/9.4 cams
    ZE mani
    Mx3 trans
    ACT 6 puck unsprung clutch
    Fidanza 9lb flywheel
    Walbro 255
    Gates Racing blue belt
    Ms1v3

The chassis got some upgrades as well:

New brake master cylinder and lines
    CNCBrakes 412 staging brake
Tokico HP blue struts for the rear (still on backorder)
XXR 531 15x8 +20 in brand new Kuhmos for street driving
Bogart Pro stars 14x6 with some small ass ET drags (probably will end up ditching these)
    Quickcar ignition control panel

I've still got a lot to do. Trying to make Import Showdown in Reynolds, GA on the 25th of next month.

    What's left:

    -source an oil solution
-take the heads and block to get machine work done
    -build the motor
    -drop it in
    -tune
-may or may not get another custom axle from DriveshaftShop before the event.

Shooting for 220whp. I'd like more but trying to be realistic. -__-

I will keep this updated. Hope you follow.

Lookin' good. It's very hard to get motivated on a long term project sometimes.

Oh and I want your shift boot! Ribbed Rubber FTW

I'd love to see 230+whp. I know that without a custom intake mani or ITBs that would be pretty hard, so 220whp for right now.

I got a couple LSx buddies that are begging me to hit it with a 100shot wet kit, but that will be a last resort. Trying to take them out all motor. haha

                  ________

Small update. Dropped everything off at the machine shop this morning. Now the waiting game begins. Hopefully they move fast.

Just thought it looked cool so I snapped a picture. I think the neighbors really hate my shop lighting. Lights up their houses!

Don't think that's supposed to be like that.... lol wheel bearing number 4 bites the dust. Gotta get that driver side axle shortened. This junk makes the diff swap look better and better everyday. Ha

Charging/dash harness ran. First time I've seen the cluster alive since the car went down. Good feeling

Mock up motor is in to start on a custom downpipe. Full 2.5 inch to 3 inch collector. I'm not a welder so go easy on my tac welds. Lol

Also got my control panel in and working. Just have to run wires to all the accessories it will power. Interior is coming together.
