this is the information i just got for the production numbers on the probe. i obtained this information directly from ford. the ford customer relationship centers phone number is 1-800-392-3673. they had no problems giving me this information for the probe registry.

low build number that i have for 93 is 109,885. with a high build number of 236,195. so 93 may have started with the build number of 100,001. there is no way to know for sure. but i will keep gathering data.
i know for fact that 1997 probes did not start with a build number of 100,001 due to their limited production numbers and high build numbers.
hope this updated information helps.
**EDIT**
sorry for the bump of such an old thread but i felt that this was the best place to post the information.Last edited by LowClassCC; November 11, 2008, 02:26 PM.

there wouldnt be many probes i would truly consider rare. rare would be along the lines of say 5000 or less of that specific trim package.
86 mustang svo = rare
86 mustang lx = not
86 mustang gt - not
97 probe gts = rare
97 probe se = not
97 probe gt = not
now if you want to go into specific options like a tangerine 97 gt with black leather seats with zero power options... now you are starting to talk.

Probes are rare around my area. I've seen a couple, but it's always older people or women driving them. It's a waste of a potentially good probe94 rio red PGT MTX - Totaled

i see nothing but 2nd genners around here, most of them beat to piss, however, i have a nice 1st gen, very very rare in the area. theres 4 probes at my HS and mine is by far in the best condish. the other ones are faded beaten up and doggy. and 2 are 2nd gens: a se and a base, and me and the other 1st genner: his beat up rusty GL, and my LX.Dave Kolenski

I would not be surprized if they made like 4000(+) Base, 7000(+) SE, 3500(+) GT, and 1500(-) GTS. At least, thats the ratio I tend to see them, with SEs being most commonly seen, and Base coming in second.
I'd love to get an actual breakdown of how many of each model was produced per a given year, and even better the packages...but Im up in the stars on that one probably
Only other rare Probe I can think of is the 1st gen LX models with the digital dashes, but I am not sure on that. I have only come across 3, 2 in person and one on the net.

1997 the se model was discontinued
1997 the base was brought back with gt trim
so technically there are no 97 se's they are base's with gt trim.
so in 96 you had se and gt models. and in 97 you had base, gt, and gts models.
and yes i agree with what you are thinking. its very lame.
**edit**
93 also did not have an se. the se was not introduced until 94.
hmmm i wonder how had it would be to get a title on a locally junked 90 lx with digital dash. i stumbled across it collecting vins for the registry. i thought it was kinda cool but also kinda annoyed because i couldnt get the mileage off of it lol. im not a first gen guy so i didnt know that the digital dashes had even been used until i found that one.Last edited by LowClassCC; November 12, 2008, 07:40 PM.
