Well, I finally got time to cleaning my garage. I had a mach1 lip from before the '02 Mustang GT sold...so I tried to see how close it would fit the probe.
mach1 front lip part # = 3R3Z-17626-AAA
Install
The front lip has pre-drilled holes, which use push fasteners to hold it on the underside of the mustang front bumper. I measured for the center of the probe bumper and drilled a hole. Then I attached the front lip with its center hole to the bumper. The probe's bumper bolts on the side matched up perfectly to the holes in the mach1 lip...so I attached it that way. Then I just drilled holes into the probe bumper using the mach1 lip's existing holes as a template.
The endpoints had about 3" extra length on each side. Since it is just plastic, I pulled out the dremel and shaved the excess:
Quick and dirty, this is what the ends look like after:
Afterthoughts
I like it. I like it a LOT better than my fx designs front lip. This is plastic and not fiberglass. It does not portrude out like a step for people to walk on and ruin. And I don't have to angle the car as much on bumps and don't have to worry too much about it getting ripped off.
The hieght matches up to the front of the fx designs sideskirts almost perfectly:
I don't know what the actual cost of the front lip is. But...you buy it from ford and with a ford discount, I payed something like $45...so it should be under $100 for an off-the-street buyer.
But it is not too bad and is growing on me. It sort of has a BMW DTM look.
The ends are flush, despite the pictures. All that distortion is just a crappy 9-year old paintjob.
The only angle I'm not too fond of is from above of the side:
So there it is, my Mach1 probe.
