  • How to get 550-600cc injectors for $100 - for our stock fuel rails

In all this years PT gave me a lot of knowledge and useful information. It is time I give my share to the PT community.

By now we all know Nissan side feed injectors fit our fuel rails with very little modification to the rails. Here you can see some pretty pictures:
    http://forums.probetalk.com/showthread.php?t=1701143163

The 370cc ones from the SR20DET are good for 300+ WHP.
But we need two sets of them for our V6 engines and that can cost $300+
Going bigger with 440,550 from Nismo, Sard, Blitz, Apexi can cost anywhere from $200 to $500 for a set of four. And wee need two sets...
By now it is cheaper to buy a set of regular top feed injectors and fabricate a fuel rail.

Then one day I got a set of regular 240SX 270cc injectors in my hand. They had a little cap at the bottom and four tiny holes for the fuel.
    That immediately brought back memories:
    http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...5&pagenumber=1
How to transform Impreza WRX 440cc into 740cc injectors by shaving the injector cap. At the time we had a discussion on PT and quickly found out our stock injectors do not apply and the whole deal was quickly over.

But now I had those 270cc in my hand. They looked the same like the WRX ones. What if...

An hour later the answer was obvious:
    http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=324271
My brother is finding that 240cc, 370cc and 550cc injectors are basically the same except there is a cap on the end with different size holes that regulate the fuel. Behind that end cap is one large hole.
That discovery turns out this way:
    http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=343641
(They are trying to make a few bucks by doing them themselves when in fact it is a easy DIY job)

Now I can feel I'm almost there. Ebay is there to help me.
You want to search for "sentra injectors", "KA24de injectors", "SR20 injectors" or even "nissan injectors"
A fuel rail complete with injecors can be yours anywhere from $20 to $60. Some come complete with injectors clips.
One of the searches found this particular seller that sells some 550cc injectors that are really the modified 270cc.
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...spagename=WDVW
(The Nismo, Blitz, Sard, Apexi 550cc look completey different)

Now you need some injector clips. Those side feed were used on a lot of cars. Anything from a 200sx to a non turbo 300ZX. You local junkyard is waiting.

Now we have $200 standalone computer - Megasquirt, $100 injectors. All that is missing are some reasonably priced turbo pipes.

I'm also working on a transmission conversion that will hold the turbo power, but until the car is running I will not go into further details.

EDIT: added the 1.6 Nissans that use the same type side feeds to search for injector clips.

I already have two sets. Friend of mine shaved the caps on his set for the 240SX he plans to mod and did some basic flow and spray pattern test. This stuff works great. Go out and find them at you local junkyard or Ebay.
It seems they can go up to 600-650cc when completely shaved. The 550cc stock ones still have some little holes on the cap.
I do not have access to a flow bench, this is up to the other PT members.

I'll second that this works, its been well known for Bosch pintle injectors in the Mustang/Camaro world. By surfacing the disc off of 36lb standard bosch injectors they will flow approx 760cc, 30lb's that are surfaced will flow rougly 600cc's. A loooooong time ago when Chris Johnson had his own aftermarket computer chip company and didn't work for Superchips he had a table on his website that showed what injectors would turn into what when you surfaced the disc off. If anyones a search savy you might be able to locate a copy of this table.

lol. stuff like this is what makes probe owners such damn cheapskates . we are infamous. ebay and the for sale forum help with that too.

but that's ok, because if you can build a 12 second car for 2000 and your best friend builds one for 20,000, you're 10x the builder he is.

2.0 Probes can use 88-92 Supra Turbo 440cc injectors. $50 on Ebay for a set of six.
Good enough for almost 300WHP. They look very very similar to the 330cc 1st gen GT injectors that also fit. Even the clips look the same.

$50 for the intecooler from the same car (Supra) that supports 350WHP.
$20 for an Impreza WRX BOV - solid, metal construction.

                        Well we all should be!

There are two ways to build a fast car:

                        1. Use the right combination of parts, getting as many used, second-hand, cosmetically damage, or slightly modified from other vehicles.

                        2. Throw so much money at the damn car that it has no choice but to be fast, then watch what road debris, highway kick-up, and track conditions do to your brand new shiny parts.

I prefer the first method. My car may look like its held together with spit and string, and some of it is, but I'll still be waiting for you at the finish line.

I used a combination of both methods I guess. :shrig:
