  • AEM Wideband starts at 14.9:1 and decays to 10:1

I'm having a weird issue with my new wideband. The reading starts at 14.9:10, sits there for about 10 seconds, and then creeps down until it rests at 10:1. It'll sit there until I turn the car off, regardless of what is actually happening in the engine.

Any ideas? I'm thinking it might be bad power or ground.

Well as it heats up it'll start to read. You sure you aren't running VERY VERY rich?

I don't *think* I'm running that rich. I should be able to see some smoke and it should reek of gas, right? And my mileage would be attrocious.

Currently I'm getting around 400 km to a tank, which ain't great but it's not that bad. Also, I have MS set up to cut fuel on decel, and the wideband stays at 10:1 even when NO fuel is being injected. My narrowband sensors go full lean at this time.

I'm going to try turning the key on and not starting the car, and I'll see if it does it then.

Some WB need to be "setup". I don't know about yours, but my LM-1, when first used, needed to be turned on with the sensor in open atmo, before installing it, to work correctly. Is there anything like that you may need to do?

The AEM wideband has about 3 different settings, make sure that you have selected the right one. By default it should be setup correctly, but check it anyways.

Sounds like it isn't setup right, my LC-1 required being setup outside of the exhaust pipe for calibration (like what easyBob said.) Then I had to adjust the voltage output of the sensor and also the file in my Megatune folder.

Turned out to be a simple thing... the ground wire in the connector got pushed out somehow. I jammed it back in and now it's working great.

Going forward make sure you have the screw in the back set on the right function otherwise your readings can vary. I think there's P0 thru P4. Refer to your manual to make sure you have the right mode.

Yep, it's at Position 0. Which means it says POO when I start it up. Best part of the whole procedure, really.
