  • install. drawing headlights

    ok, first of all, i allready got the sleepy eye mod, but i want it a little different them it is now.
    the situation now is, when i do my headlights on with the stock switch on the turnsignals my lights go on, but they dont come up, i do that with a new momentary switch
    and when i turn the lights off they automaticly go down also

    but i want to have it this way,
    the switch on the turnsignals i ONLY want to use it to turn the lights on and off
    the momentary switch i ONLY want to use to get the lights up and down, no matter if the lights are on or off

    is there anybody who can help me out?

      Im not sure if a relay would work. but from what i can make out of what your saying (sorry) is that you want your headlight motors on a seperate circuit than the parking lights/headlights?

      if so, you will probably need to re-run the wires from the headlight motors (4 of them) into the interior on seperate wiring from the stock harness. (what i would do)

      i dont remember off the top of my head which wires do what for the headlight motors, but its not hard to figure out with a test light.

      if you are trying to do something different, if you can describe it in a clearer manner i'm sure i can help you out, i've done everything to these headlights lol

        yes that is exactly wht i want, to have the lights seperatly from the headlight motors
        but i need to know what wires i need to cut and extend them to my momentary switch
        or realy easy said; i want to have the setup so i can put the sleepy eye's on no matter if the lights are turned on or off

        this is the setup i have now;

          ok well that involves the headlight motors themselves, its a given that there is a ground wire and a hot wire, but there are two other wires on the headlight motor plug that im not sure about.

          like i said though a test light is your friend as far as that goes. this is the easiest and best way (IMO) to have them seperate from the lights themselves. its not realy hard to run new wiring right from the motor plugs, there is a little rubber cap on the firewall under the master cylinder (big round thing under the brake fluid) that if you cut a hole in you can feed the wire through

            its probably a stepper motor... come to think of it , its probably two separate steppers.

            one controls max up , and one max down.

              thats exactly what it is, i didnt know there was a name for it.

              the copper wheel inside is what powers and when the prongs hit the plastic from the wheel openings the motor stops.

                actually a stepper is a bit different... thats like a built in variable....

                interesting.

                  hey thanks man
                  but isnt it easyer to plug out the fuse from the headlight motors and get a wire from the to fuse points to a momentary switch?
                  that way i can get the lights on and nothing happens until i push the momentary switch litle by litle and the headlights go up litle by litle and whn i turn off the lights they will still stay in the sleepy eye's since there is no power circle when the momentary switch ins't pushed
                  and then they will only go down again when i push the momentary switch, right?

                  i hear youre meaning about this idea

                    you will need 2 momentary switches since the up and down functions are on different circuits.

                      are you sure about that...
                      cause when i have the sleepy eye's up, and pull out the fuse they wont go up or down either...

                      i am using a stock probe momentary buttun from a 93 probe;

                      and when i pust it a little it works as a momentary switch, and when i fully push it, it works as a on/off button
                      so that would mean if i have the button fully pushed (on) the lights should work as stock
                      and when the lights are on and the button is not pushed (off) the lights only go on, but not come up, and when i push the button momentary they should come up litle by litle
                      and when i push the button full again they should go down when i turn off the lights

                      but thats what i think would happen, quess i have to go and try it...
