  • ProbeTalk moving to new server

alright everyone, i got word from Transeau earlier today that we will be moving to a new server very shortly, likely within the next day or two.

when that happens, you may experience some outage while the DNS updates propagate over the internet.

we apologize for the inconvenience, but this is to help PT run much smoother and prevent any long-term issues.

    thanks!

You wouldn't believe just how much he's spent on keeping this site alive.
With a lot of effort we have managed to keep the costs down, while increasing speed.
It does still cost a lot. But a lot less than 5 years ago.

And yes the new server is faster, has more memory, and a fiber connection more than 5x faster than the one it was on yesterday.

This looks like my rack. Just curious, are you running everything physical or are you running VMware or HyperV and running virtual on those servers?

The big boy is physical. That's my SQL server. (2x E5 Xeon, 128GB, 24x 15k SAS RAID60) the other 3 are ESXi 5.5's. HP Switches, Cisco MPLS router, MikroTik CCR1036 internet router. Powered by an Eaton 9PX-5000 with two expansion batteries and a 208-to-120 step-down transformer.
