  • Storage Question

    Hey,

Just have a couple of questions about storing a car in general. I have the G35 for the summer and a beater for the winter. My question is what is a "safe" duration of time of keeping a vehicle sitting before things turn to negative?

What I mean is how often should I drive the stored vehicle so it doesn’t go “bad”, once a week? Once every 2 weeks, or once a month?

Both cars would be stored in an underground garage where the temp is 68-72 degrees. Under a car cover,

If I were to drive it once a month just to get it moving I would let it warm up fully and take it for a drive, on the roads and a bit of highway, then put it back to storage

    Any help is appreciated

    Thanks

    Simon

Jack it up on jack stands so the tires dont get flat spots. I take my firebird out when its nice, so two, maybe three days a month.

Also, remove the battery (optional) and add oil and gas preservatives, respectivily.

I have also heard to place the jack stands under the control arms, ect. so the suspension isnt hanging the whole time.

If your storing a PGT, use the OEM jacking points, if you span the stands out to far the body will sag.
I just finished 4 1/2 day's worth of work on my PGT over the New year's weekend an the Car was on stands the whole time. After the second day i could tell there was stress as the doors were hard to open or close.
