Make sure that fuse touches resistor.

I just completed a successful fuse replacement. I want to add some suggestions. As stated earlier, the fuse must touch the resistor to work correctly. The function of the fuse is to sense when too much current is passing through the resistor. I found that I could re-bend the clip which holds the fuse and resistor together to make it work with the larger fuse. I believe that the plastic case which covers the fuse + resistor is also important (it insulates the heat). It keeps the heat from the resistor from escaping the fuse. I wrapped the fuse + resistor with a strip of leather and used a zip tie to hold it all together. Some other material could be used instead of the leather.

Update

and a success for me also in curing my 51 code.

another member wrote about how this code started after charging the battery with the cables hooked up. This was my case as well. Looking at the schematic it looks as if the Airbag module has power from the battery at all times. Even with the key off. I guess me charging the battery overnight must've done something to it.

oh well. thanks again to PT I have cured this issue and installed a new alternator. I'm ready for the Winter :-)

Hey... I know this is 'old' stuff and maybe not many of us are still around.. but I've been trying to solve this Code 51 problem for a while now on my 2Gen, MX6. The pics of the 'fix' by Kov don't display anymore.. - but for me, not having the expertise to fix this, like that, I guess I'd be needing a new Module..if they're still in existence and If it is a (complete) module problem. I thought it might only be the Right passenger sensor problem and wondering if that needed to be addressed, wherever that is and cleaning the contacts etc, but now I'm really confused. I first have to replace the light in the cluster that burnt out to get the 'code' flash to function again and fix the constant beeping.. and then try to fix the problem.
Still not sure which way to go...
I'll continue with the quest...and reading up on all I can find, to see what I can do...
