well switching the wires only has to deal with if your just using the disty, and no msd.

when using msd, you're severing those connections anyway. did you use this diagram? http://www.gilstarr.d2g.com/All_Pics...D%20Page-2.jpg

the yellow isn't used. just cut that off. the green is the tach, that goes to white msd. and the black is the 12v trigger, which goes to red msd.

it should work, if you followed that.

did you install the msd harness correctly? as in, the inside of the disty?

the only other thing, is that you're 180 degrees off. put your engine at TDC. take the disty cap off. the rotor should point southeast (#1 spark plug wire).

otherwise. idk. maybe your coil or ignitor is bad.

    try my way perhaps...http://forums.probetalk.com/showthread.php?t=1701141851

i have a feeling the timing is off, as it sounds like it wants to start, then abruptly cuts out. i'm going to replace the rotor and reset it all to tdc like you said and see what happens. I'm confident my wiring is correct.

Pics are high res and about 300k each on average

ok here are the pics of my wiring and my beat ass rotor, with the new rotor the car definately fires more, however it will not start, so i'm going to work on the timing now.

so what I did with my 3 pin harness was move each wire down one, and wire the msd accordingly. the other thick black and red wires are to my radiator fan.

why are they going to your radiator fan? you know that's not a constant 12v source. that could be the problem...

and you should only have two wires from the 3 pin harness connected. not 3.
the white from the msd disty harness should be going to the green on the 3 pin connector, you have it going to the yellow. which shouldn't be used at all.

I have a 95 though, the yellow takes the place of the green. and only two wires are tapped for the msd, the other one was cut from the main harness and just retapped.

ok just to double check, for a 95, you are saying not to switch wires around, and simply tap the red msd wire to the black wire on my 3 prong, as well as tapping the white wire from the msd harness to the green wire correct?

k, it looked like they were spliced in there. sorry.

as far as the switching wires. it's my understanding, they just changed the position in the harness connector, and not to the PCM. that's why i was saying earlier that, that doesn't matter.

so the red wire should move from the far right connector to the far left? and the far green wire should receive the white wire from the harness?

brain is finally starting to kick in, the black wire is still the signal wire, only reason Turbo Mark had to move his is because he was plugging it into the disty?!

Thing that is most discouraging is it is firing right now, with my luck I'll take that stuff apart and it won't fire

yes, cuz how you have it now, your tach is getting the input 12v signal from the msd. lol. and your far left black, to turn the msd on. is going to nowhere.

the black is just the 12v trigger signal, to turn the msd on. so yes, that's something major.

wired it up as such, now it will not spark at all, just cranks and cranks. i'm looking for a breakdown of the wires to see what is what. i think my tach signal wire is on the 5 prong connector.

alright my other question, in the 2nd picture, is the proper white wire connect to the msd box, or do I have it reversed?
